A version of "Jock Stewart", the folk song more familiarly known round about these parts as "I'm A Man You Don't Meet Every Day", from Jon Boden's "A Folk Song A Day" project:

http://www.afolksongaday.com/2010/10/23/jock-stewart/

Not quite as good as the firehazard family ukulele version, I'd say. (Which is still nowhere near as good as the firehazard family ukulele version of Dirty Old Town, but that's another matter.)
Likes the warm feeling but is tired of all the dehydration.

LOL! Naturally you know I'd prefer the Firehazard family ukulele version over anything by Jon Boden (and that's not damning the FH family with faint praise!)

A friend of mine has a scary addiction to the Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain. I watched their version of Smells Like Teen Spirit on YouTube and couldn't decide whether to applaud, laugh or run away screaming!

Yet another from Jon Boden's A Folk Song A Day project for your delight. Here's his South Australia:
http://www.afolksongaday.com/2010/11/06 ... australia/

The firehazard family don't yet have our own ukulele version of South Australia, so I can't compare it with that. That could be our project for the Christmas hols.

Seem to be hearing alot from Port Isaacs Fishermans Friends, could be flavour of the month. It is well done and all but think it lacks the real power the song deserves...

Agreed. And the reviewer of their album in the Guardian, Robin Denselow, agreed too: "They try hard to have fun, but it's a bit plodding and respectful: listening to their version of South Australia made me turn to the Pogues..."
http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/2010/ap ... ns-friends

There's apparently a big deal to make a movie out of their story too now.
Anyway, might see them sometime over the summer. Then again, might not.

If you have access to BBC1 digital and press the red button you can watch tracks from the Folk Awards 2011. Fishermans Friends South Australia is on the set list .
As is Levellers - One Way and Riverflow.Donovan Catch The Wind etc.

Ah, here's Jon Boden's version of The Gentleman Soldier, recorded as part of his A Folk Song A Day project:

I'm sure Shaz will love this one.

I lasted 30 seconds before hitting the stop button! And I am still traumatised by finding a video on YouTube of Bellowhead massacring New York Girls!

Philip mentioned a Russian band called Puck & Piper on another thread. Here they are on YouTube covering Streams of Whiskey:

And here's Jon Boden's version of The Auld Triangle, another one from his A Folk Song A Day project:

For the special delectation of Shaz in particular.

Are The Dead Rabits playing The Greetham Music-Ale Festival Saturday 28th May 2011? Or was that last year, your site http://www.thedeadrabbits.com
has it listed as 2010.

You're right, it is supposed to say 2011. As you can probably tell we aren't the most organised bunch around! I'll get them to change it but we are definitely playing on Saturday 28th May 2011.
