The Band From County Hell

These are best seen live in sweaty venues...they used to do a few pogues covers, but they've a half-dozen albums now so it's mainly their own stuff...they do a blinding Irish Rover though...you can see from the name, big pogues fans. Have a look www.bfch.co.uk

Last saturday these were on in Boston (the original one, in Lincolnshire UK )...at the Axe & Cleaver, a sweaty shithole...free to get in, packed out, everyone drunk..including the band...what a night! I got up and did a 'guest' vocals bit...waxie's dargle/ roddy mccorley/ jimmy baker...still croaky-voiced now..ain't enjoyed a gig so much in years..to hell with soulless venues like Nottingham Arena...sweaty bars is where it's at...

Ah but...I live a 30 minute bus ride from Boston...stopped at my sister's house the weekend...she also attended and was as drunk as drunk could be...big pogues fan she is...and i'm still not fully recovered five days later. The key words were 'free admission'... :( ...i'm on long-term incapacity benefits...and poor...spiritually wealthy though...
In my opinion bfch were in their element at the axe...a place where you can 'get away with it'...a lot of gigs they have to behave.....pleased you bothered to have a look, though...cheers, barney. :)

Barney,

I wanted to thank you for turning me on to this band. they are really good...and so fun.! I have seen a couple of videos and tapings on youtube.....I can imagine that a live show would be fantastic!

in any case...this is what I love about The Raft the most....!!

I am going to look for their album "In My Mind" I read somewhere that it is outstanding. I'm assuming you have heard it??

so again..Thank You! Please keep us posted the next time you are able to see them live.

xx

Hello chinaski...yeah, they are a good band..i'll be seeing them on july 4th at scunthorpe..i'll post a review..
In My Mind...correct, it is easily the best of their albums..I imagine if you sent them a cheque, they'd send you the album..they'd probably throw in a free t-shirt with it..second-hand and beer stained..but free nonetheless..is that actually a word?? don't take drugs..
