There's more to look at in this one

I agree - the second one's a better video altogether.

Christy's a special guy - you're lucky to have seen him young Micky Finn. I've two tickets for Cardiff in Oct but my husband's going to be in Malaysia but I'm still going though cos I wouldn't miss it for anything. Christy promised me a photograph and I promised him a copy of my book. Lip service probably... :P

PS - 4711ers is back on track after a rocky week.

Press the little "Play" button to the left of Track Three for an Amazon-sized snippet.

Not too different, really, the fiddle kinda does what the saxaphone did, and Declan does a mellowed out version of the solo. Starts acapalla (he writes in the liner notes he's always thought of it as a sean-nos song) and builds from there.

Just received the album from a super ebay deal (4gbp + postage). On the quite & mellow side, but has a few great moments, like any Christy album. The last one (Buring Times) still takes the cake, in my books.

Not unlike David Bowie's version of Simon & Garfunkel's "America", Christy unearths a layer of poetry hitherto unsuspected in the lyrics.

Well, *I* suspected it. Like many, i went through a Floyd phase when i was younger. While i don't know if you could pay me enough to sit through The Wall now, Wish You Were Here is still a nice listen. I consider it to be their best work, largely b/c of Shine On.... And the title track re-grew on me (like a mold, or fungus) when my son learned it on guitar last year.
