I'm not sure about outside The States but anyone watching the "Rescue Me" episode aired on Tuesday 4/21 should be sure to notice the scene....when Tommy is talking to Sheila "POGUE MAHONE" written in graffitti on the locker they're standing by. Very cool Dennis Leary!
It's quite a long scene, Leary made sure to keep it pretty clear in the shot between the characters. It appears between their faces for most of the dialog even though they change angles, Also for some reason they misspelled it. They spelled Pogue - Pougue, could it be assinine US TV censorship? BUT It was quite obviously placed in the shot on purpose.

I doubt it is censorship, they let pretty much everything go on FX. It is probably the hair dye affecting Denis' ability to spell...

I have a long term plan to watch the whole series but it will be a while before I get to the last episode but I would really like to know the song! PM me if it will ruin anything for others.

The Google News yesterday told me that Dirty Old Town played over the credits. I have zero idea if this is in any way a spoiler, so treat with caution.

Great show, some seasons move way faster and storyline is better then others..... My telling it won't ruin it.

As the show ends the camera pans across the east river from Brooklyn to a shot of the water and the Manhattan bridge in the backround.... Dirty Old Town ends the series.

My viewing of the DVD of the final series, released in the US next Tuesday, is already booked into my diary for the following weekend! It will be all the sweeter knowing it has earned me money too!

Oh, I've had a troubled on-off love-loathe relationship with this show since the start, but I love it because it rarely inspires indifference. I've been aware for over a year that the final episode would coincide with the 10th anniversary of the Towers and have considered that episode event television whatever else happens and actually, for all my flippancy about the money, I'm moved and pleased to unexpectedly find myself a tiny part of that final show. As Denis Leary's alcoholic meltdown is paralleled in real life by some of those first responders - in addition to those slowly dying from cancers they may not even know they have yet - Rescue Me is what television is all about. I was present at the Trade Center site in November 2001 when the firefighters' union already found themselves sufficiently at odds with "America's Mayor" and were moved to hold unbearably poignant protest rallies there.

I used to watch religiously but I lost a bit of interest in this show, especially when Jack McGee left the show. I plan on catching up someday.
