Guardian list of 1000 songs everyone must hear

Post Wed Mar 18, 2009 12:52 pm

The UK Guardian is currently running a feature on "the 1000 songs everyone must hear". The Pogues are featured in the categories of:

People and Places: http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/table/2 ... -must-hear
(Dirty Old Town and Rainy Night...)

Politics and Protest: http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/table/2 ... -must-hear
(Streets of Sorrow/Birmingham Six)
Likes the warm feeling but is tired of all the dehydration.

I don't suppose, at one end of the year at least, that many people in the UK and Ireland can do much to avoid hearing FoNY in shopping malls, on the radio, on the TV etc. "Must hear" might be a bit superfluous?

Streams of Whiskey is named as one of the Party Songs in the final part, in today's Guardian.
