MacGOWAN TO BUY NEW TEETH

Post Mon Jan 31, 2005 12:09 pm

This is a weird one....

http://www.contactmusic.com/new/xmlfeed ... ew%20teeth

Hellraiser SHANE MacGOWAN is so sick of being famous for his toothless mouth, he's undergoing surgery to convert his gum-revealing smile into a gleaming white one.

The Irish frontman of THE POGUES - whose teeth have been rotted by alcohol and drug excess - was presented with a false set on British TV's THE FRANK SKINNER SHOW last year (04), and he was impressed with his "handsome" appearance once he'd inserted them into his mouth.

And MacGowan has now taken his bid for a better mouth one step further by setting aside the money he recently earned from a Pogues reunion tour to pay for the dental work.

He says, "I'm going to get my teeth fully sorted this year. People seem surprised to hear it but it's something I've wanted to do for ages. In the recent past I never had the money.

"But the cash from The Pogues shows has come through. I put in false teeth on Frank Skinner's chat show and thought I looked rather handsome."

Wow, hehe. Guess he'll get a new sound after this. Wish him only the best and I'll bet he'll be a happy fish with his new teeth. 8)

It would be nice to see what sources was used for this article though.. I don't trust news papers like this very much ;)

Finnish guitarist Andy McCoy got his heroin wrecked teeth done by raising money from fans. A lot of people collaborated...

Maybe Shane should try the same thing..

By the way: Has anyone got a link to see video or pics from Shane on Frank Skinner?

Hmm and that's an idea! So then I'm able to proudly say that Shane wears my teeth! :D

For Shane's attention: I got a set of healthy 28, taken proper care of, no holes in them or anything.

Not the voice - it's not like he's being operated on his throat or something - but it might just get easier to make out what he's saying - which of course will account for part of Shane's charm going away - but hell, I'll love him even he speaks perfectly distinctively.

Already have the update prepared:<blockquote><blockquote type=cite>"Update: Shane MacGowan now wears falsies."</blockquote></blockquote>
“I know all those people that were in the film [...] But that’s when they were young and strong and full of life, you know?”
