"Down In The Ground" for People in Need

Post Sun Nov 11, 2007 11:26 pm

Apparently Shane has re-written "Down In The Ground where The Dead Men Go" as a Christmas tune to be performed by a bunch of RTE reality show celebs. The story was in a well known Sunday rag, but the fact that one of the celebs was Victoria may add an element of truth...

You have to admire Victoria's tenacity and determination to become a minor celebrity, lesser mortals would have thrown in the towel by now.

yes John thank you for pointing out the glaringly obvious, I often wonder how I'd get by in daily life without the cliched advice of idiots ringing in my ears...

Charity "Celebrity!??" version of Down In The Grou

Post Thu Nov 15, 2007 12:36 am

The Irish Indo today. Ian O'Doherty (author of S.Mac, Last Of The Celtic Soul Rebels) reports that Victoria is organising a Christmas version of DITG with her Celeb mates from Telethon. Supposidly Shane is producing it! Any truth in this?

He very wittily says that as Michelle De Brun is involved it should be "Streams Of Whiskey"

People In Need cd

Post Sun Nov 18, 2007 2:58 pm

They spent a week in the wilds of Connemara and now a rag-tag bunch of personalities are making good on their threat to release a charity single in aid of 'People in Need'.

Looks like Shane may be the producer on "Down In The Ground Where The Dead Men Go "cd for charity.

There were pics in the Sunday Indo of shane (looking in rude health) producing the track with the 'celebs', "Connemara Let's Go" due for release early December!!!!

Shane did production and some vocals.
Another detail to whet your appetite - Cait plays bass on the record.
Colm (of Kila) plays whistle. Trumpet and fiddle were added..

P.S. Victoria shares her impressions with Indo readers here:
A song and dance to make our celebrity charity single

Small Sunday World Article

Post Tue Nov 20, 2007 12:57 pm

I read a small article about Shane and some Irish model. However the article also referred to Shane making a special Christmas recording of “Down In The Ground”.
My first thought was didn’t The Pogues record this before?

Anyone else heard of this?
