Well that's exciting stuff, time to try something new on the new computer we have.

I think i read, somewhere on this forum, that there may one day be a Peel Sessions release, as soon as shane gets around to signing the contract. just looked & i couldn't find that post/thread, anybody remember? Just curious as to which peel session it was.

That is now an obsolete story. Warners will be licensing the material we need from the BBC for our box set released in March. The track listing is not quite finalized but I reckon there will be around 11 or 12 tracks from the BBC radio vaults on the compendium, spread over 3 of the 5 discs in the set. They are not all John Peel sessions, though they are mostly evening Radio One sessions, dating from April 10, 1984 to October 22, 1986.

Couldnt they have broadcast it anyway? That would have been the best thing on bbc radio since the last time it was broadcast!

Archive of the show is available on the web site linked to above. Will be there throughout the week.

Unfortunately this program doesn't seem to broadcast the entire session - just selections from it. The few i heard sounded mighty good though.

I missed the broadcast, but listened to the archive. They only played two cuts from the session: Boys from County Hell and Poor Paddy Works on the Railway. Both are, naturally, stunningly well done. Ripped 'em using Audio Hijack, but as they are compressed for web streaming they only sound as good as, well, as audio compressed for web streaming. Getting me excited to hear what turns up on the box set, tho.
