Bill Gates | Pogues Fan

Post Tue Oct 16, 2007 9:06 pm

Here is the link to an article in the New York Times.

http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpage.html?res=9D03E6DE1330F937A35753C1A9619C8B63

In promoting the new social-networking site Tuesday, Microsoft executives showed Mr. Gates's own profile, listing the Irish folk-punk group the Pogues and the Latin Playboys, a blues-rock-acid-folk group, as his favorites -- a use, Mr. Gates said, of ''artistic license'' by Microsoft's marketers.

Now I feel all dirty and stuff. I have all the Latin Playboys' CDs sitting right next to The Pogues' CDs.

What does that mean? That he doesn't actually like any of the bands, and its just a PR bit?

Kinda funny when "the People" find that they have something in common with "the Man".

Windows is bad, and nobody should use it, but Bill Gates is a good guy and I don,t really get people who seem to hate him for no apparent reasons, just because he's richer than them. And I know Microsoft's history and how they rose to fame, but that's called capitalism. Stop hating the guy and stop using Windows. ;)

If I hadn't met the guy I would have to believe DzM is Bill Gates. (Both computer geeks, same taste in music.....)

Wonder if Bill will be at the shows?

Windows is bad? Knowing next to nothing about puters, I didn't know this. Would you elaborate?

Whatever about that, megawealthy people are perfectly entitled to have good taste too.

I'm almost going to apologise for Windows but generally it's not the PC and the operating system at fault, but the user

got no problem with microsoft at all. I once was quoted as I will never have the internet, I now have been working in the industry for 12 years and as much as I liked bartending, I like these hours much better. Thanks Bill Gates and some of the money I make from his products, I am going to vegas for the 2nd year in a row to see my favorite band..

Sorry that I will miss you Philip I was right in front of you last year.

Bill Gates has this computerised system in his house where visitors wear a name badge and rooms they walk into automatically play the music they like according to a sensor system pre-programmed into the badge. How cool is that!!

On a slightly associated note, I wear a jaunty, tinfoil hat as I believe Mr Gates reads my thoughts with his supercomputer as part of a top secret governmental conspiracy

No. That's just Bill. He reads the government's thoughts as well.

Some day it really will get to the point where people will be asking google questions like, 'what should I get my parents for their anniversery?' or 'what should I name my baby?'

They already know everything about you.

Windows is a poor excuse for an operating system. It is badly programmed and full of bugs. Bugs are a common thing in the computer world, but the fact that Windows is WAY too expensive for what is inside the box makes it not worthwhile. I can get a far better OS for free, which is what I did actually. I also hate the fact that when you use Windows, you are kind of forced to use some Microsoft programs, you don't have any real alternative, even though the programs may be really bad. Oh, and it is really slow.

Sorry, I am a computer geek who hates Windows but loves the Pogues. ;)
