What's about the NME ?

Post Tue Jan 11, 2005 4:29 pm

I looked at http://www.nme.com/ but still no review of The Pogues gigs at Brixton Academy so i wonder if the review has been published on their newspaper edition.

Thanks for the info (if there is one) !

There's some reviews in this topic, but you'll have to manually search for the Brixton ones. I'm unaware if there are any published on some other site, forum, and so on, but I hope you find what you were looking for in the link I stated earlier.
“An’ this is the last of Brummy,” he said, leaning on his spade and looking away over the tops of the ragged gums on the distant range.

I haven't yet seen the print version of this week's NME (out today), but up till now there's been no review of the Brixton gigs, or any of the other ones.

There's still no review of any of the gigs in this week's print version of NME. I shouldn't think they will publish a review now. :(

And I'm afraid there's no review in this week's print version of NME either. They are still getting round to publishing some reviews from gigs that took place in December, but to be honest I doubt they'll have one for the Pogues. :(

I'm sure this has been posted elsewhere but...

http://nme.co.uk/reviews/10095.htm

This is a gem:

The band [is] incredible, whip-snap tight and ferocious in their drive, looking like lounge rats who have just beat the shit out of the Bad Seeds without spilling their drinks.

Yeah, but it's a review from December 2001 at Brixton. NME never published a review of any of the 2004 gigs, as far as I know.

I fell out with the NME when they ran an article where the Jam maintained they voted Tory. Weller later claimed it was a stunt.....hmmmmmmm.
I would like to claim that I was only three years old at the time but this is a forum where the truth prevails.

I stopped reading it altogether when it became a Morrissey fanzine. I grew up near to the Moz in Firswood so I knew he was a more than bit weird, to be disparaged for being completely pants at football and therefore wasn't a demi-god. He got an early obsession with the New York Dolls which I've kind of respected him for that as I've got older. At the time I was in diametrically opposed Ska and Northern Soul territory.........still am pretty much apart from the long lasting love of the pogues.
