Pogues on Veronica Mars

Post Sat Nov 25, 2006 9:53 am

So I am being a good husband and quietly sitting in the room with my wife as she watches "Veronica Mars," largely ignoring the TV when I hear the strains of "A Pair of Brown Eyes" coming through the speakers. It seems our heroine had gone into an Irish themed pub to confront some ruffians, and this was playing on the jukebox.

Easily the best thing about that show.

Isn't that precious another stupid show trying to think that it's hip, now will add shamrocks to it. I doubt very seriously the lead female who plays Veronica Mars has any idea who The Pogues are. On a clearly different subject I was at Kelly's Tavern last night knocking back Guinness and pouring my money into of juke for Pogues songs. Here's the songs that I selected

1. A Pair of Brown Eyes
2. Medley: The Recruiting Sergeant/The Rocky Road To Dublin/The Galway Races
3. Transmetropolitan
4. Waxie's Dargle
5. Streams of Whiskey
6. White City
7. Jack's Heroes
8. The Sickbed of Cuchulainn
9. Gartloney Rats
10. Young Ned of the Hill
11. Bottle of Smoke
12. Sea Shanty
13. The Irish Rover

Yes I poured my heart and soul and my wallet into this selection, but hey if you walk into any Irish-themed pub and their not playing at least one Pogue's song something is amiss.

I've never seen this show, but I stumbled across this earlier today:

Never heard of the show either. i did notice that their link links back to yours (ours). Now do you suppose the plethora of Veronica Mars fans will attempt to board the raft?

That's how I found their page.

Given that that episode was apparently from several years ago, I don't suspect there's going to be a big new flood of posters saying "I think Veronica and Darryl would make an awesome couple!"
