El Journo from the Glob sums up the Pogues as “elegant journeymen musicians all’ – talk about backhanded compliments!

Typical attitude of the waning Globe – they would rather genuflect at the altar of the corporate rockers (Rolling Stones at Fenway, for eg.).

On the positive side, the superior Boston Herald did a decent review that captured the craic of the night that was;

I read both reviews and couldn't agree more with you Kildare Pete.

It was a great night and Shane was in great form. Anybody who thought otherwise isn't a fan and I don't give a rat's behind what they write in their useless, dying, irish hating, newspaper.

Even movie and book critics don't seem to be as snarky (good word) as some of the people I have read of late and not just on The Pogues' shows. Some dude named J. Freedom Du Lac for the Post is a certifiable jerk. Perhaps, they view themselves so lucky to have the job that they must go over-the-top. Feck 'em.
