Well that's it. Enough is enough. I am so offended by this cartoon and what they have done to Spider that I am going to go out to the news stands and burn them. I know thousands will be out there with me.

But seriously.... kinda cool to be the subject of a cartoon right about now, hu?

I appeal for calm. It's obviously me and not darryl and the fact that i am playing a bass means nothing, as every journalist/music business creep/drunk bloke at a party I speak to has formed the eroneous impression that i am a multi-instrumentlist.

re: duelling editions of Entertainment Weekly

The Pogues article and the Billy Bragg Top 12 (and some thing about glam and some other stuff) are in the "Listen To This" section, which is apparently a "bonus music section" that only appears in some copies of the magazine. I've never been quite clear on how they decide which copies get it and which don't. When that section first started appearing a few years ago, I remember there was a blurb elsewhere in the mag telling you that it only appears in select copies and that if you were a subscriber you had to call or email them and ask them to put it in your copy. (Which isn't exactly true, because I always got it in mine even though I never asked them to include it). I guess that meant that the newsstand copies didn't have it? But now I can't seem to find that blurb anywhere in this ish so I'm not sure what's going on. I suspect that James is right and that it's only the home delivery copies where you have a chance of getting the supplement, which doesn't make much sense to me, but such are the ways of giant multimedia conglomerates I suppose. Honestly I think this may be the first time I found anything in "L2T" (yeesh) that was worth reading.

Oh, and the diagonal yellow stripe on the cover of copies with the music section screams:

Listen To This
The Pogues Return!
Neil Young * Glam Rock 101

Ah well, at least the Pogues got the top line, outranking Neil Young and "Glam 101" and even getting the lone exclamation mark. Poor Billy Bragg isn't even mentioned on the cover. And poor me; as if I didn't break the bank last year by buying all the fab reissues of the Pogues, Kirsty MacColl, and Go-Betweens back catalogs, this year it'll happen all over again as I buy the fab reissues of the entire Billy Bragg catalog!

Hey! Since when are you disposing of my precious kisses, MissWalshy?!
Well, I didn't do it. But can I still get a kiss?

Well, my kisses are nothing but very special prizes around here. It's not like a signed poster or a backstage passage, you know...
just give me the okay and i will.
Easily! Okay is not a kiss, so here you are:

The latter.

Oh you have to kiss me soon. I've made a thousand posts.

Perhaps DzM should do it, infact.

Or Philip can send me a jaffa cake and I could sell it on e-bay? Such prizes..

Entertainment Weekly Article

Post Sun Feb 26, 2006 1:13 am

JamesFearnley wrote:There are two versions of the current EW. I don't know why. One with Pat Gilbert's article about us, and Billy Bragg's Top 12. The other one without. Both ediitions have Steve Carell on the front. The edition with the Pogues' piece in it has a diagonal yellow stripe in the top right hand corner of the cover that says - well, I don't know what it says, because I don't have it to hand at the moment. Every last copy I've seen on the stands here is the edition without the Pogues' piece. Maybe the edition with the Pogues' piece is only for home delivery. It's all a bit mysterious.

CONGRATULATIONS James and Phil (and all the rest). That's pretty cool of them to write about you guys again. I saw the Entertainment magazine in my doctor's office today. I almost swiped it but that small angel sitting on my right shoulder told me to just go buy one at the news stand. Now after reading James Fearnley's story about not finding that article on the news stands, I should've taken that copy afterall --- maybe I'll set up another appointment at that doctors office -- LOL!
