The Pogues article and the Billy Bragg Top 12 (and some thing about glam and some other stuff) are in the "Listen To This" section, which is apparently a "bonus music section" that only appears in some copies of the magazine. I've never been quite clear on how they decide which copies get it and which don't. When that section first started appearing a few years ago, I remember there was a blurb elsewhere in the mag telling you that it only appears in select copies and that if you were a subscriber you had to call or email them and ask them to put it in your copy. (Which isn't exactly true, because I always got it in mine even though I never asked them to include it). I guess that meant that the newsstand copies didn't have it? But now I can't seem to find that blurb anywhere in this ish so I'm not sure what's going on. I suspect that James is right and that it's only the home delivery copies where you have a chance of getting the supplement, which doesn't make much sense to me, but such are the ways of giant multimedia conglomerates I suppose. Honestly I think this may be the first time I found anything in "L2T" (yeesh) that was worth reading.
Oh, and the diagonal yellow stripe on the cover of copies with the music section screams:
Listen To This
The Pogues Return!
Neil Young * Glam Rock 101
Ah well, at least the Pogues got the top line, outranking Neil Young and "Glam 101" and even getting the lone exclamation mark. Poor Billy Bragg isn't even mentioned on the cover. And poor me; as if I didn't break the bank last year by buying all the fab reissues of the Pogues, Kirsty MacColl, and Go-Betweens back catalogs, this year it'll happen all over again as I buy the fab reissues of the entire Billy Bragg catalog!
