Nice one Dave.
It's nice to see top quality journalism is alive and well:
Why give a lifetime achievement award to a band that has been creatively redundant for a decade and whose creative peak, If I Should Fall From Grace With God was released in 1996.
1996? Now that's what I call a well researched article. Well done Irish Post.
I've not seen that quote from Jem about making a new album before. Doesn't look too promising.

It's originally from this Irish Post article.

Psycho Ceilidh - i think shane often used the term with the media to describe his new band the popes around '94. Neck then picked up on the term and adopted it after their lead singer parted with the popes and formed neck. Woods also used it in his Pogues era composition 'psycho celiidh claremorris' which was released in the '90s with his band the bucks. I think shane coined it in the mid-eighties. i might be wrong. :)

yep. Leeson O Keeffe:
<i>"...we are a 6-piece London-Irish band that describe what we do as 'Psycho-Ceilidh' (a Shane MacGowan invention-harking back to when I was asked to join The Popes,in order to put some Punk Rock guitar 'Psycho' into the already existing 'Ceilidh'...) but what we do is now called 'Irish-Punk'-due to the rise of Irish-American contemporaries of ours from the U.S. scene of the same name (Which we are perceived to be part of-hence the Shite'n'Onions web-zine, such as The Dropkick Murphys & Flogging Molly). I personally prefer the original, more imaginative & inspiring MacGowanism.."</i>

this article is great because it says nothing but the whole truth....how long we will be excited in these "reunion"-gigs...what if nothing happens than another stupid "best of"-shite or rare tracks releases? how long will we be interested in celebrating the past?

1) until they end
2) there has never been a bad or stupid best of releases -- you don't have to buy them -- if they release rare tracks I'm sure it won't be garbage
3) good point -- we celebrate the past, while living the present as fully as possible, and look forward with great anticipation and hope to the future.
