Haven't you peeped into Medusa gallery? If you haven't do it (there is one picture of the other Pogues) and then rush to shanemacgowan.net. Sean has much more of them...

This award looks like some artefact from a Lovecraft story. Throw it in the sea when the stars are right and you may rise Cthulhu from his sleep in sunken R'Lyeh.

It was designed by Jim Fitzpatrick, who did most of the Thin Lizzy sleeves.

legends all

Post Sun Feb 12, 2006 3:38 am

with red roses for me the pogues didn't set the standard, raise the bar or highlight the genre. they invented their own fucking genre, ripped up the standard and jacked the bar so high sergei bubka couldn't get over it if he was drinking red bull and driving herbie.A lot of hard work put them there, more hard work has now seen them honoured as the legends that album always said they should be,good. there is a god.

thanks wolf!
Why didn't Shane come on together with the other Pogues? Were they afraid he wouldn't look that good walking those metal stairs?
But Irish Rover was good.

Wow that gave me goosebumps. Good to see Ronnie Drew remember the lyrics this time.

But where was the awkward dance?

And here's the one from nearly twenty years earlier:

The Pogues & The Dubliners: The Irish Rover (RTE, Late Late Show, 1987):

Thanks a million El-Lobo!!!I wondered whether I'd ever see this footage .Its priceless. The Pogues are a timeless band;great music is timeless and it fitting that they performed on the night with The Dubliners and Ronnie Drew-another timeless band. Whose idea was it to get the Dubs involved on the night Mr C.? Thanks.
