I'd love to see The Great Hunger to pop up online like the Fairytale documentary did...

Following on all the Pentangle hippiness, it was great to have a bit of Waxie's Dargle at the very end of last night's prog. Looking forward to next week's! :)

Best quote from last night's programme:

Shirley Collins (I think) on Davy Graham (I think... it's a bit hazy this morning):
"He was incredibly disciplined. Except he took drugs."

(For the full effect, you have to imagine the posh English voice...)

Really enjoyig this series. No mention of Luke though.Come to think of it ,it is Folk BRITTANIA.Seven Dunken Nights shook the "poptastic charts" up a bit in 67 but there was no mention of it.

Yeah, that one made me giggle too. They do collect quite a few oddballs in that programme, and they did a really good job in drawing out the development of the different styles and the conflicts within the tradition. Some of it quite unbearably crystal balls and woolly jumpers, and where has all that earnestness disappeared to? It is also nice that they showed the entire songs last week after the programme. But it does make you appreciate what The Pogues did! Hope they do them justice next Friday.

What an enjoyable couple of hours TV on BBC4 yesterday! Very interesting final part to Folk Britannia, including a cameo appearance from Philip, followed by the Long Hunger documentary (repeated from 1997) of Shane.
