We did that thing where we returned to the scene of the crime and pretended to play the song (although in fact we did play, though not record, the song). We always made it clear that we never intended to re-record FoNY. The Katie Melua version from the Jonathan Ross show was requested of us by Warners to satisfy a marketing imperative - Downloads - which did not exist in 1987. Did it help? Dunno. The song is still high in this week's download chart (the record itself fell from 3 to 5 to 12), so I guess it must have played its part.
