Coronation Street

Post Mon Jun 05, 2006 8:53 pm

Pair of Brown Eyes was playing in the background in a scene in the Rovers Return in tonight's Corrie. I reckon someone at Granada must be a keen Pogues fan as it's hardly a well-known song and they've also played the Irish Rover and (unless my memory has let me down) Dirty Old Town.

Aaargh.... divorce?? We are so way behind here, plus I missed about a month of shows while I was away. Now it's the never ending NHL play-offs... Last Sunday was the first time I saw it in ages. Frankie and Danny (obviously no divorce in sight yet) are at the Rover's and at one point she cries and says she misses her "Warrendinho". I had such a laugh!!
Here's where we're at:
Keith is "dating" Audrey and has gotten himself a piglet in the yard.
Shelley and (ugh) Charlie are supposed to be getting married sometime in September.
Liz meets a plumber at the Weatherfield(?).
Someone seems to be following Bev.....

Oops! Did I get carried away there? My humble apologies...

Josie - Oh yes , lots has happened since then! I'm tempted to give you chapter and verse on it but watching it wouldn't be the same for you if I did...but it gets good....with some very surprising couplings!!
Didn't realise it went out in Canada. Which bit are you from? I've some cousins in Cambridge, Ontario. I'll get to visit them there....one day..!

i think it's because they have such believable actors...each one has a great charcacter . They also have some very serious story-lines running alongside some really hilarious ones so it's not all doom and gloom and rows and punch-ups like Eastenders (though I do watch Eastenders just 'cause it's there!)

Emmerdale's best because of the Dingle family...partiularly Uncle Shadrack.

One of the attractions for me, is that I was brought up in a place called Prestwich, adjacent to Salford where the Street is based. It's good to hear the names of familiar places mentioned and much of the filming, eg the funeral on Monday is local - St Margaret's Church, a mile away from my parents' house.

I actually started laughing, and then I realised you were being serious. Coronation Street has some of the worst characters going. Norris, Rita, Emily, Sally, Kevin... I could go on. They make for awful television. Lets hope Hillman gets back soon.

I must admit it was exactly the opposite for me when Brookside was on.

If you lived where I live you'd think they were believable too!But I agree about Kevin...he should be axed.....literally! You seem to know a lot of the names for someone who thinks it's awful
