It's all about respect, and dignity, and the Big Brother format has none of that. And yes, trashcity, doesn't Shane have enough problems with a press that constantly depicts him as a sad old comedy drunk? (See the various reviews of the live gigs for examples of this.) This would not help with all of that, I'd predict. Just keep away from all that tabloid rubbish.

Of course, I could be wrong too... 8)

bad, bad idea! The papers would rip shit out of him, although it would make entertaining viewing Shane MacGowan and Boy George living in the same house.

Personally, I think Shane Going into the BB house would be utterly ridiculous - the man is a god damn genius within minutes he'd be driven out by Anna Nicole Smith or whoever because of there stupidity - and it would hardly do wonders for his image.

But on the other Hand, Shane going into the house could mean Fairytale Finally Getting to Number One with the promotion - if he actually goes in, he'd be all over the papers, and hopefully that would resurge Fairytales' Popularity - and maybe they could release another single, like Rainy Night In Soho or A Pair of Brown Eyes - and it would raise awareness For Justice For Kirsty which can't be that bad....

I think firehazard said it all - joining Big Brother is like selling your dignity!
I have to admit I don't know how BB works in the UK but if it's the same as the German version, it would be more than sad to see Shane in it.
In addition, I don't think watching Shane's everyday life (especially in such environment) would be more interesting than watching anyone else's. I dare saying that he probably sleeps, sits and reads a lot, which is not very thrilling to watch imho.

Shane on BB

Post Tue Jan 03, 2006 8:51 pm

God, it can't be true. Shane on BB. Any truth in it Phil.

I hope not, the man is a genius and a legend, and should be thought of and remebered for his talent.

sorry gwrwho, I fear he will be set up and ridiculed by a shit-arse British press who will no doubt ignore the talent and focus on Shane's present image.
Then again Shane doesn't give a toss about how he's perceived or depicted and the reputed £150,000 fee would certainly enable him to get a round in!

Miss walshy, i don't know what you are expecting but i would bet on it being different to the reality. I seen him do this in the boogaloo many times. not very intresting just a bit sad, like a big sad animal in a zoo.

Unfortunately, this is the reality...sad indeed
