My difficult middle child landed in Dublin yesterday, for a month of meeting family and attending music camps.

Today, she has sent a picture of herself holding a bottle of Pogues whiskey. I've let her know if she isn't carrying a full one when she steps off the plane at the end of the month, she's not welcome home!

(To be fair, before she left i gave her a credit card for "emergencies", and I did allow as how the finding of such a bottle indeed qualified as such).

Beverages and More seems to stock it.

Wow. I really didn't even think to look in such a common place, thanks.

The Geary Street location has ONE in stock right now.

My favorite, the Van Ness BevMo!, has bupkis.

Lake Tahoe is lame and doesn't even stock it (to sell out of). :?

But there are two bottles nearby. Two whole bottles. 8)

I've looked in two BevMo locations in South Bay. Each time each of them had one bottle. One. Bottle.

It seems as though they're willing to take a risk on it, but not MUCH of a risk.

Today I have been sober for three years..scotch whisky was my poison...still miss it to be honest..still steer clear of pubs and bars and social gatherings..still don't trust myself not to give in to temptation..I am an alcoholic..I guess I always will be.

Bloody well done mate! Great work sticking with it.
I recognised my addictive personality 38 years ago and haven't done little drinks since. Never had a whisky in my life. Like my ale though!

Good on ya, especially dealing with recent family events and then making it through Christmas, this is a triumph! I know if Mr. Chevron was with us, he'd be joining in with the congratulations. He was quite generous in sharing his struggles on these fora and in Carole Clerk's book, and he also subscribed to the "will always be an alcoholic" philosophy.

Er, in other news (sorry Barney!) ... i've been enjoying "Glenlivet Founder's Reserve" over the season, which (for a premium scotch) is really quite affordable.
