The same Management team have now overturned the decision and the unbleeped version will now be played.

story of Fairytale of New York

Post Thu Jul 24, 2008 10:27 am

About 2 years ago BBC broadcasted a documentary of the Story of Fairytale of New York.

Someone sent me a copy, but is very bad: a lot of pixels all over the DVD, so it's quit strange to watch the film.

Is there any gentle soul that can send me a good copy of the documentary? I don't want to buy it, but I don't mind to trade something.

Please, send me the documentary of the most beautiful song ever writen.

And by the way, Mr. Philip Chevron, the box is not available in Portugal yet. And Mr. C., you wrote the 2nd most beautiful song: Thousands Are Sailing.

LSMelo, these fora may not be used to arrange the exchange of pirated material.

On the other hand, the BBC is a public service broadcaster and the show may well be quite freely available still in the BBC archive. Go to bbc.co.uk and prod the buttons.

Unfortunaly BBC don't answer to my e-mails (I tought this "no respect problem" was just in Portugal) requesting a copy. So I don't know if they have it or not.

Yhe only chance I have is getting a copy from someone...

It's sad.

LSMelo,

I tried to get it directly from the BBC as well with no luck (and I was offering TINY American dollars!). It has nothing to do with the fact that you live on a funny little island in the middle of an ocean, so don't feel persecuted (we have plenty of that on Medusa already). Good luck and keep trying!

My thinking was that the BBC archive is often available by "streaming" or whatever from their website, though perhaps there is a time limit on these things.

Most of the BBC's "streaming" of programmes only lasts for a week. So the best chance may be to wait and hope it turns up on one of the BBC's channels sometime soon. Certainly worth watching the schedules around Christmas.

It seems very random what the BBC does, and doesn't, release on DVD. I don't know if it ever works putting pressure on them to do so?

That's what think too, Mr. C. But is not too much asking for a simple answer from BBC.

Well long life to The Pogues, still waitng for a new show in Portugal (I saw you twice between 1989-1993), and above all, still waiting for the new Box.

I enjoyed very much knowing your return to the live shows last March after recovering from the illness.

Regards to you all.
