We are watching a TV show at the moment called The Secret Millionaire.

The programme is about millionaires who go and live in poor communities and this week a man is visting Salford, he can't tell anyone he's a millionaire, he wants to help people in the community and wants to see where his money would be most use. At the end of his time there he choses who he wants to help.

At the beginning of the programme they were playing The Pogues version of Dirty Old Town.

I caught that too, they also played the original. 8)

I Know, heard that too, I have it somewhere on CD.

Slightly off topic, my mum used to know Ewan MacColl.

Turkish Song of the Damned at Walt Disney World. Two days ago. I was placing an order at a fish and chip shop located adjacent to an "Irish" pub at Downtown Disney. We'd had a full-on Disney day filled with excess, crowds, noise, and flagrant and disturbing consumer manipulation, and were looking for something to eat and a couple of pints, and TSotD starts up. I couldn't believe it. Very surreal, and yet somewhat soothing.

Odder still was that the next song was the Dubliners Seven Drunken Nights - and not the abbreviated version either.

At a Celtic-themed restaurant the other day, they played "Bright Lights".... Not the most Irish of song choices, considering the theme of the restaurant, but it was still a pleasure to hear.
