Japanese Magazine - Pogues Japan tour

Post Sun Sep 11, 2005 10:44 pm

In the recent edition of DOLL magazine here in Japan there is a 14 page spread of the Pogues.. the first couple give a discography, then about their career, a shane and spider interview and a Phil interview.. Loads of great photos from the tokyo gig.. worth tracking down even if you don't read Japanese. The Pogues are even on the front cover of the magazine.

Would anyone out there be kind enough to pick up a copy of this magazine for me? I can send you payment for it, plus whatever you need for postage, through Paypal. Please email me if you can help, and thanks so much!! :)

Any idea if some online newspaper/magazine shop has it, if such a shop even exists?
“An’ this is the last of Brummy,” he said, leaning on his spade and looking away over the tops of the ragged gums on the distant range.

We need an updated picture of the band, this i think was taken before I was born, which can be misleding, even James send in his blog a fan mistook Joey for Shane, I don't know which onw I feel more sorry for.

It's not entirely our fault. Picture editors like the photos from this session and they have become sort of iconic. They are, at least, immediately identifiable as The Pogues.

We do have contemporary pictures, but no one wants them, except the live shots.

Personally, while I have come to admire these December 1987 shots by Iain McKell, I have no affectionate recollection of the session itself, as I had to leave my hospital bed to be part of it, and had just spent the day before teaching Joe Strummer all the guitar parts. Being ill in The Pogues could be an exhausting business.

Yas, it goes to show how popular the Pogues still are here in Japan.. I reckon they could have sold out tokyo 4 or 5 nites. the Doll magazine is very good although my wife who translated it for me said it was too long!! ha! and then again Bang Joe (the writer) is a mate of mine so i have to say it is good :D Yas give me an email as I lost your k-tai number..
