There's a radio program starting on Sunday 14th Oct at 7pm (GMT) on Today FM in Ireland that each week will be discussing important contemporary Irish albums. The first week (this sunday) is RS&TL and the guest contributor will be singer/songwriter Mundy. He's a big fan of The Pogues and supported them in Dublin a few years back. He will also be performing a live acoustic version of one track from the album (i think it may be The Old Main Drag). There will also be contributions from Cait O'Riordan and Philip Chevron.

You can hear it on-line at.......

I heard about this show on Today FM's Poetic Champions Compose with Fiachna Ó Braonáin (Hothouse Flowers member)

They talk about the classic Pogues album Rum, Sodomy & The Lash, with input from Christy Moore, Bob Dylan & Tom Waits.

Poetic Champions Compose is a celebration of classic Irish albums ‘championed’ by Ireland’s leading contemporary artists. Over eight weeks Fiachna Ó Braonáin hosts the conversation about why these records are as vital today as they ever were and sheds new light on the international influence they have had. You can listen to past shows below.

Our guests share their stories of how these albums have played a part in their own lives and they treat us to an intimate performance of a favourite from their chosen album.

The conversations are driven by specially recorded interview footage and previously unheard archive. Fiachna gets the inside track from the artists, managers and producers who made the records and some of the biggest names in the music industry that are still under their spell – all providing plenty of surprises for both the listener and our guests. And above all we hear the music – the timeless classics and the music they inspired.
