Bewildering, but Joe Public appears not to be fooled, at least.
It's one thing making a holy prat of yourself in front of the entire Pogues' crew, the local stage-hands Union in New York and huge chunks of the Pogues' audience, but
quite another to invite mockery from the readership of the
Guardian. This one will take some living down, fellas. Hope the publicity worked better for ya back home.

I actually thought they sounded ok. Interesting they make no comments on their website, or My_ page and Ooops their FB page happens to be friends with the Pogues page so the only thing posted on it (beside wiki info) is the article from yesterday. Also noticed they went from opening for The Pogues to opening for 90's Indie band "Bright Eyes". Ouch. Hope they got to hang out back stage and be all angsty together.

Mr Oberst's band are ok actually.
But I suppose Titus and Ronicus has always been destined for a tragic ending, with much bloodshed. Or at least some handbags.

Maybe he wanted to duet with Shane on Fairytale of New York

Umm....is it just me, or are introductions a bit of a two way street? Did Mr. Holy Prat bother introducing himself to the Pogues, or did he expect them to make the first move? I don't get it.

I saw them, they were okay but I thought the songs went on way too long. What happened to the punk model of 1 1/2 to 3 minute songs? (or will that date me)

Another
Guardian blog. They seem a bit excited about all this:
Titus Andronicus might be peeved that the Pogues ignored them on tour, but it could have been worse. At least they didn't cover them in black paint or sack them without seeing them play ...http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/musicblog/2011/apr/07/support-bands-headline-acts

Well, good. At least they can't whine in the press about being ignored by you.
I thought TA were pretty good myself. And Amy Klein is adorable! But this tempest in a pisspot is ridiculous. Seriously, Philip, next time hire my band - I PROMISE we won't trash you in the Guardian afterwards. There will be no shuttlebus skuttlebutt.

To be fair to them, I don't think Mr Titus and/or Mr Ronicus sneaked to the
Guardian themselves. I suspect it was some
Guardian hack just trawling the interwebs on a quiet afternoon. But it does demonstrate the perils of whinging.

I think the biggest thing that contradicts everything that "Tightass Androgynous's"* has stated in their interview is this website. I don't post here very often, and I have never opened for the Pogues, but every single question I have ever asked Philip Chevron has been answered. I have found it very easy to access the band. I also have found it very easy to find out where Shane will be hanging out after the show. I feel if these guys would have simply reached out as opposed to sitting in corner wishing the various members of the band would come over and tell them how wonderful they are they would have had a very different experience.

Not really intending to resurrect this thread, but this seemed appropriate...
Secret diary of a band: How to survive support tours...
Being the support band on a big tour you must know your place, or else you run the risk of being fired on day one. With that in mind I thought I'd put together an advisery [sic] checklist...http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/musicblog/2011/jun/14/secret-diary-band-support-tours
