As much as I enjoy Puddle's Pity Party and, seperately, Storm Large - I can't say I feel like they brought anything to the song. They just did a cover.

AND

Given that Storm's biggest hit (so to speak) is a song called "8 Miles Wide" (Chorus: "My vagina is 8 miles wide; Everybody's welcome; Just come on inside" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w5U-YT-mRmI ), and who counts Dan Savage among her fans and supports, I'm surprised to hear her have an opportune *cough* in exactly the spot you'd think. Why, Storm? Why?

And Puddles' change to "I built my world around you"? Ugh. Not a fan. I love the aspirational nature of of "I built my dreams around you." This? It just, I dunno. it takes away from the bigness and makes the sentiment prosaic.

They both have fantastic voices, and I am an enjoyer of both of them. I want to like this. Really, i do. But dammit, I just can't.

I'm pretty sure I've heard the song before...

but I've never seen the video. One of the women in it is the absolute spit of a woman I know. It's distracting. Never knew she'd been in a Pogues video. I'll have to ask her about it next time I see her.

Fun but I'm disappointed they didn't also analyze Gary Oldman's version (From the 'Sid & Nancy' film).

Also, let's be clear, Shane's version is clearly a cover of Sid's. The interesting comparison here would be between Frank & Sid's versions. Which he does in brief, but ...
