For whatever reason you had a corrupt copy of the site's CSS file (this is the file that tells your browser how to format everything).

If you see this in the future and a simple bonking of Reload doesn't work, hit Shift+Reload. In Firefox (which I see you are using) this forces a reload of the entire page including all cached data like images and CSS files.

I just noticed that the "Birthdays" information at the bottom of the Board Index page disappears after I log on.

This is not a major big deal, just odd.

I think maybe it's just the time difference? The board is set to a different time zone than the one I'm in (6 hours difference, I believe), so it may be someone's birthday in Britain because it's 1:30 am or so there, but 7:30 pm my time. Maybe? I guess I'll check tomorrow.

I'll bet you're right.

That is, in fact, the case. When you're "guest" then the time zone is GMT. When you're registered then the time is whatever you tell it your offset it.

So my computer doesn't keep me logged in, even though I keep asking it to. But I don't think this is a fault of the Medusa raft, I think it is because I got a new computer. Is there something I am doing wrong with this machine? I am running Safari on a Mac.

A browser technology called a "cookie" is used to accomplish the "always logged in" thinger. Cookies are sometimes considered hostile though, so some browser may block them. This would break the "always logged in" feature. It's also possible your browser has somehow stored a corrupt cookie (meaning the data in it is not an accurate reflection of the data that is supposed to be stored). This is not as uncommon as you might think.

On the bottom of the forum page, on the right side of the screen and just above the navigation links, is a link that says "Delete all board cookies." Bonk on this, then log in again with the "always logged in" thinger checked. Let me know if problems persist.
