Planning to do the "big move" on Friday 13th? Maybe thinking the date a handy excuse in case things go wrong? ;)

Superstition fades in the face of "When can I physically make the three hour drive to the hosting facility." The economics of time, gas, and driving have a nasty habit of walking rough-shod over niceties like salt over shoulders, rabbit's feet, and avoiding 8-balls and thirteens. :)

My birthday is on a Friday 13th this year. It's also my 18th birthday. :?

 That made my day! A balding 37 year old... :P Although, I do admit, I shaved my head until this summer (so I was balding in a sense) when I decided to become like this Celtic chief I saw on Rome and grow my hair pretty long, with one or two small weaves near the front of it, and have a big beard. How that turns out, I'll keep you posted.

Vercingetorix, that's the one.
Also the subject of a film starring Christophe Lambert. Not the best film, I believe... worth a read of the review at http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0199481/

Server A has (finally!) been shipped to me. Scheduled delivery is tomorrow, Jan 6. I'll take a week or so to refurbish it, and hope to place it in production next weekend or so (sometime on Friday, Jan 13 or Saturday, Jan 14).

Yay!

Good luck with it DzM :)

Update again: I'm delighted to announce that Server A is now physically in my posession. I haven't checked to see how it survived shipping, but at least it's here.

Surgery on it begins this evening, and if all goes well I'll have it installed some time next week or weekend.

Yay!

Ahhhh. Progress.

Server A has had the RAM upgraded (now at 750MB - about 250MB less than I wanted to get it to, but I ran out of RAM slots on the motherboard) and HD replaced (now at 7200RPM, 80GB - I'd have gone with more, but really 80GB is way more than Medusa needs for the next few years).

I haven't upgraded the CPU (still 1.2GHz AMD) 'cause I can't convince myself to spend the money on it right now, AND I can't figure out how to release the heat sink in order to remove the current one. Damn that's a clip with a will to hold on. Maybe the CPU upgrade will come in the Summer.

Server A will (with luck) be installed and running in about three hours. Fingers crossed, eh?
