Avatar sizes

Happy New Year, all.

As a "what the hell, it's 2014, why not" kind of thing, please be aware that you can now have avatars up to 200x200 pixels (they were previously restricted to 100x100).

Have fun.

Yay! I can't compress my self smaller than 120x120.

Watch out for the Red Roses For Me avatar courtesy of Carmens..........

EDIT POST....

Bollox, apparently i'm still 38kb, have to loose weight and get down to a trim 10kb or less. There's not gonna be much of me left when Shaun T has finished with me.......

If you have facebook, try messaging the smallest version you have and then save the image from within said message.
Apparently facebook compresses the images down as a rule?
I don't know how/why it works, but it did for me.

Derp. Increased the pixels, but not the max bytes. That's what comes of off-the-cuff "what could go wrong" decisions.

Size limits now increased to something more reasonable. Enjoy.

I've always had a problem uploading an avatar picture here. I will give it another try again sometime when my schedule is less busy.

I tried to upload a photo again last night but it was still on the large side so you're spared from looking at my miserable face for a little while longer.

Thanks, it's great to finally have one.

I just downloaded one of those apps that changes the size of your photo and there you go. This also means I can change my avatar whenever I like. :D

This is frustrating me.

I've got a new photo that Jake took of me about a week ago when I got my hair done.

I rather like it and want to put as my avatar.

I've put it on my Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Linkedin, Wordpress and everywhere else I have an account, but I cannot seem to set it as my avatar here.

I've shrunk it to the correct size but no, Medusa is just not having it.

It keeps saying the extension is not allowed or something.

Ah well, you're stuck with that miserable mugshot of me in a dress from Summer 2013.

And worse, that seems somehow to have become broken too. The Medusa, she is picky.

Make sure your new avatar is named something like:

picture.jpg

The extension is the part that looks like ".jpg". That bit helps other software better understand what kind of data you're passing to it (alas, the software here isn't as sophisticated as that which drives FaceBook).

If that still causes you problems then send me a PM. I'm sure we can get it sorted.

That seems to have done the trick, thanks.
