Happy Birthday Joe, Straight To Hell!
Then they'll take you to Cloughprior
Shove you in the ground
But you'll stick your head back out and shout
"Let's have another round!"

Happy Birthday to someone who still means so much to so many. Ever remembered.
Likes the warm feeling but is tired of all the dehydration.

I saw him with The Pogues, but I don't remember anything about it.

in the booklet of "From here to eternity", the Clash posthumous live album, there's comments of fans that have seen them live.

The best of them all is this lad who says "I am only 18. I have never seen the Clash but I would sell my grandmother to have seen them"

Probably his grandmother saw the Clash!

Whether or not she would have spent all her money on tickets and albums I wouldn't be able to tell, but it is conceivable seeing the Clash so impoverished her that she postponed procreation... and as a result sort of sold her grandson for the Clash.

Saw the Combat Rock tour in Saint Paul, Minnesota. There is a rumor that Bob Dylan was also at that show.

Did you know sauerkraut was re-branded "freedom cabbage" during WWI? Life is a fecking circle indeed.

Because of this thread today, and the not-always linear way my brain works, i shall always think of Freedom Fries & Cabbage now when i hear "Bhindi Bhagee" by Joe & the Mescaleros.

I was fortunate enough to see them on the same tour at the late Cape Cod Coliseum, a minor league hockey rink, temp
must have been 120 degrees.

Besides seeing him with the Pogues, once subbing for Mr. Chevron and once after taking over vocals for Shane, my
eternal thanks to my friend BF for winning Joe Strummer and the Mescalaros tickets in a radio contest. Great show-
at the Roxy in Boston, we noticed Dickie Barrett of the Mighty Mighty Bosstones standing next to us, like he was in heaven.
