White City

Post Wed Feb 22, 2006 12:05 am

Does anyone have the tabs/sheet music for the solo Terry does of White City on the SNL version? I don't think the solo's on the studio version of the song, and the tabs I found so far only tell how to play the other parts.
“An’ this is the last of Brummy,” he said, leaning on his spade and looking away over the tops of the ragged gums on the distant range.

Hello Irish Rover - Are you playing it on mandolin? I'd have to go back and find the old VHS tape with them on it to find out what Terry played on the solo part. I thought he played the same way as the studio, but I'm not sure. maybe I can tab it out for you if it can't be found anywhere else. I used to play that song on cittern in a Pogues cover band in NYC. As the solo I just played the melody of the verse higher up the fretboard and in a more fancy manner.

I don't have the studio version at hand right now but I think it's neither the cittern nor the whistle that's used for the solo on the studio version, right?

and how I wish you could get a cittern in Austria...

I think he played the concertina on the solo part in the studio.

Check out :

Foley citterns are expensive but worth it. Lark in the Morning also have affordable ones and they ship worldwide.
