Re: The Pogues @ Festivals in 2009?

Was gutted that The Pogues played so many festivals but didn't play the Reading Festival last year.

What are the chances of it happening this year? I think that of all the UK festivals they would go down best at Reading

If Reading are smart enough to ask, please say yes. An injection of Pogues fans would make that festival perfect.

cue Alice Cooper bass line a la The Pogues' Metropolis: When you're a Pogue you're a Pogue all the way / from your first tin whistle to your last dying day... I'm sure the Pogues could take that bunch of hippies any day, beer trays to the head & all.

That said, I saw the Levellers here back in 2002 or so and must admit they were bloody marvolous, loud cheesey keyboards and all.

I saw them three weeks ago in my city for 50th time. Stil the same set list, still the unbelievable arrogant attitude.. They have some good songs though but everytime I see them, I swear it was my last.

And on topic: If the pogues come to my side of the water I'm going for shure!! Is there anything we can do to persuade the pogues or maybe a promoter?

Wouldn't be a good idea to make the metal of the beer tray too heavy. Serious head damage risk.

Which, you have to admit, is a really strange crossing of the streams. I suspect the nexus is in the two covers of Whiskey in the Jar.

But, if this show happens, will they do it together on stage?

This is true. I still love watching the old concerts where he beats himself silly with the thing.

Is there any chance what so ever that the Pogues will be performing at the Roskilde Festival in Denmark this year? Not anything confirmed; I mean: Are the negotiations, anything? (Me attending Roskilde this year is somewhat built on the idea that I have a strong feeling about Pogues playing, since another thing have come up the same week. But missing Pogues is not an option :D ) :?

We should have our Summer 09 plans sorted within the next month. Stay tuned. Roskilde is not currently under consideration, as far as I know.

I'm the man who told Canada to expect us in March, only to retract the promise minutes later, and ever since, Canada has refused to return my calls and has scorned my flowers and tributes. I gave up idle speculation for Lent.

If the Pogues play reading that would be insane! I live just round the corner :D went for the first time last year and saw both dropkick murphys and flogging molly, but would be happy to miss both for some Poguetry.

If not hopefully Spider will be there for Flannigan's Ball anyway.
