Great news that the Pogues are to play the Levellers' annual festival! Didn't Spider once say on here that he hated the Levellers when they were suggested as a support band for a Pogues tour?

He looks all angsty.

Yet adorable. Or so my girls tell me.

Actually he seems a good guy when you see him close up. And seems to enjoy life. And beer. And he does a cracking version of Navigator too.

The Levellers own this Festival?

Damn, I thought property was theft.

Damn, I might have to fly over to England and see this! 3 of my favorite bands on the same festival. Every year the lineup keeps getting better and better. Since the Levs are never going to tour America again, might as well fork over the money to sleep in a tent for 3 days in England haha.

I posted the press release on my site here.

The Pogues will obviously be meeting with the Levellers behind the festival bike sheds. I've no doubt that our lads can take them.

I just had a flash of the boys doing that rumble dance number in Westside Story...

In everyone's interests, I think I should mention that we have, as usual, been offered a great number of outdoor shows this Summer, but that our participation is not solid until it is formally announced on the front page of this site.

At this time of year, as bands and festivals are busy finalising their summer diaries, promoters often jump the gun and prematurely announce acts with whom they do not have final contracts. As often as not, contracts are being negotiated until quite late in the proceedings.

I mention this because I would hate to see people purchasing tickets for shows at which we are not in fact, formally booked.

Not that any of this will matter if you are a Metallica fan, of course.

Which, you have to admit, is a really strange crossing of the streams. I suspect the nexus is in the two covers of Whiskey in the Jar.

I was wondering when The Pogues were going to bring out that "heavy metal" set like Hank III does at the end of his shows. Looking forward to seeing Shane and the boys in spandex. What style hat will you be wearing with that outfit Philip?

If heavy metal means that Spider will play the beer tray the entire time (whilst decked out in Spandex and spikes and whatever else heavy metal bands wear), I'm all for it. I need some good entertainment.
