Just a note for those in Boston that I was at the House of Blues in Boston for the first time last night for a DKM show and the place seems pretty good for a show. It looks a lot like the old Avalon, but there are many more sight lines (a second and third floor and more railing space) if you are not on the floor. There is also more room on the sides near the bars (easy access, but a can of Guinness is 8 bucks; Sam Adams was 6.50) and more doors so you don't have to bottleneck at the front to get out. The bathrooms are a lot nicer too for those concerned about such things. Even at a Dropkicks show, which is usually sold out and can be very unruly, there was plenty of elbow room unless you were pressed right up against the stage.
The sound on the vocals could have been a bit more crisp, but I think it is better in the middle than way on the sides. Also, the Pogues won't be quite as loud as DKM, H20, and the godawful Civet, so that should help.
Hope someone finds that useful.

Any word on pubs before/after show?

Are you travelling from St. John's or Deer Lake? I am getting in to Boston on the 19th.

What pub are all the Newfoundlanders meeting at before the show?

get in on the 20th out of st. john's. heard nothing as of yet. thoughts?\

How about McGreevy's? Around 5:00pm. And pubcrawl from there.

Many thanks, boys, for a great New York run. The Pogues at Roseland is a grand tradition and a highlight of our year and we really hope you can make it again next year!! We'll let the Washingtonians have you this year, what with Obama and all, but please - St. Paddys shows should always be in NYC!!!

Many thanks for coming back to the States. The show on Friday at Roseland was transcendent - it's an absolute privilege to have the chance to see you (I've felt this way each year for the past four years). I only hope you'll come back to New York next March so this tradition can continue. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

I think I made this into a link, if not you can obviously just copy and paste it... Anyways, nothing earth-shattering here but it is always nice to come across an article about the boys unexpectedly... Can't wait for Saturday night, baby... 5 more days! Hope everyone enjoys the Washington, DC shows and the Friday night Boston show!

I have to say that I was quite disappointed with this article. Jim Sullivan has covered the Pogues (and Shane's) Boston shows for well over twenty years and is a fan of the band. This story is almost the exact same as others recently printed. I thought he would add a little more depth and maybe add some recent observations about the band, not just "Shane drinks alot and is still alive, blah, blah, blah". To me the most amazing thing about the recent incarnation of the Pogues is the fact James can still move around the stage (unless he secretly had bionic knee replacements)!!

Check the confirmation they emailed you at the time of purchase. DC tix were will call, not mailed, so Boston might be the same deal.

I finally spoke with someone at Artist Arena/Live Nation. The Saturday, March 21st tickets went out last week. If you do not receive tickets by 6pm Tuesday, March 17th they need to be called. They will make your tickets available by will call on the day of the show.
