Good history there.

BTW - if anyone is going to DC and hasn't booked a room yet, go to Hotwire and look for the $89 3.5 star hotel at DuPont Circle. This seemed like a great price for fairly close vicinity to the 9:30 Club and downtown DC.

Tossers would be great but they're playing in Chicago on the 14th.Actually they're in NYC on the 5th of March I believe doing their own show somewhere downtown.

....or The Tossers; we can never get enough of them!

Only 24 days until the Pogues hit Boston!!

Here is a Youtube Clip of Boston's legendary J. Geils Band on the Boston House of Blues Opening Night. Looks like some great sightlines-
it will be fun to see them in a brand new venue.

(There are more clips of J. Geils and also of the Blues Brothers show last Saturday night-gives you a pretty good sense of the venue)

To paraphrase Anton Newcombe, We choose the support bands, not you.

Sitting in work, and just realized we're less than a month away... best weekend of the year. I'm bringing the wife to her first pogues show this year, so we're extremely excited. I even managed to get her to dance to Rainy Night in Soho at our wedding in July... Just wanted to say thanks Philip... looking forward to seeing you guys again in March!

I have been asked to pass this note along:

Due to unforeseen circumstances we regret to announce the cancellation of the New York show on the Thursday 12th March at Roseland Ballroom. All tickets bought for the Thursday show will be honoured for the Saturday 14th March show at the same venue. We are sorry for any inconvenienced caused.

Unforeseen circumstances like not being able to sell tickets for all 3 nights. I could have seen this coming when they started to bundle the dropkick murphys, flogging molly, and pogues tickets together.

yeah, the fact that people are losing their jobs & homes in what is shaping up to be the worst ever world-wide recession might have something to do with it..well spotted no-name boy.

I'm sorry DublinRambler, I have no idea. I'm just the errand-boy on this one.

Philip or Spider may have some information they can share.

Unfortunate. I'm glad i got tickets for the 13th. However, several friends will not be making it due to financial concerns this year. At least for the few hours at show economy/recession will be last thing on our mind !

Sorry to hear that Dublin Rambler. That sucks and for anyone else that can't go to the other shows now.

I had already bought a ticket for the 14th. Can I get a refund for the 12th?

A couple of years ago when Shane hurt his leg and the show and the Roseland got cancelled, refunds were offered then, along with the option to go to a later show. I had tickets for both nights, and turned mine in at the Irving Plaza box office, no problem.

If you bought your tickets though Ticketmaster, initially they would not refund your "processing fee" or whatever, but I seem to remember reading that some Medusians just asked to speak to a manager/supervisor at Ticketmaster, and that fee got refunded, too.
