Might I ask what the unforseen circumstances are? And is there anyway they could be rectified, either before this tour, or sometime in the future?

We do hope to get back to Canada at some point, yes. No definite plans at the moment.

Have you any plans to visit Wigan in the near future?!

Whilst the Casino and all our 9 theatres and Music Halls are now long gone (or have been bought by Luminar Leisure and turned in ‘Walkabout’ ‘Chicago Rock’ or Gala Bingo) we do still have the 290 seat Wigan Little Theatre, which I’m sure you’d agree would be a lovely intimate venue to play. I do not think the pay would be very good though.

I assume now every new venue is built to suit special needs. As I do not have any contacts for HOB Boston I applied to "my man" in HOB San Diego to confirm or deny my bold assumption. He shares this supposition, says that accessible seating needs to be available by law, so yes, HOB Boston will have the appropriate facilities. And he was also told that the website will be up ‘soon’ (with all necessary info and contacts I believe).
We hope it helps for the moment.

Got tickets for St. Paddy's Day. AMAZING that this is now a dyed-in-the-wool tradition, going to see the Pogues each year. I still can't get over it.

My Sweetheart and I are open for suggestions for pre- and post-concert revelries.

I'm not expressly familiar with the situation in North America, but long years of experience here (over the other side of the Atlantic) have shown me that although there may now be a legal requirement to provide access, some places do it better than others. New venues are generally better at it, though not all of them get it right by any means.

A lot of venues that do provide "special-needs" access require you to contact them beforehand to tell them of your needs, so they can make any necessary arrangements. I'd strongly advise you to do that in advance.

I'd like to know the same. "Pogues not legally allowed to enter Canada" type of unforseen circumstance? Or something else that could be rectified?

I was thinking this while I attended a concert last night in Halifax at the so called Cunard Centre (yes, that Cunard), a 3000+ guest venue located on the Halifax waterfront. Being that it's a pier, it's long and narrow, but the sound, decor and visibility of the stage were amazing. Standing room only, with lots and lots of bars set up, washrooms at each end and the lineup for the washrooms was incredibly fast. Lots of parking close by.

Why no pre-sale on tickets this tour? Seems tickets can't be had for less than $125.00 each for the Boston show. I've seen them for as high as $340.00 from online ticket scalpers, I mean agencies :)

There was a pre-sale. Admittedly, it was announced at very short notice.

Don't spend hundreds of dollars for a ticket unless it really is your only option. The Pogues have always been more likely to respond to demand by adding an extra show than not. We often leave gaps in our schedule to respond to sold out shows by adding another. Having said that, Boston and the DC area have to compete this year for add-ons as there will not be time on the tour to take care of all demands. Finally, "sold out" shows frequently have unsold tickets come back from agencies etc until quite late in the day. Keep checking the usual outlets. Keep checking this forum too - closer to the dates, people often find they need to unload a ticket or two because a friend has had a better offer (a ticket to Phantom Of The Opera, say.)

Well, it is difficult to compete w/ Phantom of the Opera!

I'm counting tickets being available by some means close to the start of the show. I can't commit to going to Boston right now, however I can commit to scheduling my vacation around the show, and possibly heading to Boston at a moment's notice.

Matt Mays was entertaining. Buddy I went to the show with wasn't terribly impressed technically speaking, but we both agreed he put on a hell of a show, definately a highlight. The highlight for me was Joel Plaskett, he was called in to fill in for April Wine - lead singer collapsed yesturday morning at a Montreal airport.

Sam Roberts put on a good show too, but not enough to hold my attention.

We stayed for 3 songs by 54:40, though they were entertaining, we preferred to beat the rush at 1:22AM and grab something to eat before heading home.

What I really noticed about Matt Mays & el Torpedo was that they haven't changed their image. They play hard and look like greaseballs unlike bands like Kings of Leon who come out with a certain image, have an amazing album, then turn themselves into boyband lookalikes. Like, WTF? I can't listen to them perform their old material looking like a boyband.
