Really can't commit to any travel plans for at least another month. Yeah, the same old shit.....test results. Last ones were not so good.
And besides, a difficult tour to travel. South-North-South-North.
If we do have the good fortune of joining you folks, it would probably be NYC and DC. Tabernacle looks like a beautiful venue, but wouldn't fit in the relatively short travel time frame.
Eric V....looking for prospective DC areas to stay. Never been there, but have been told Georgetown is pretty cool.?
Any other recommendations centrally located? 9:30 site suggests Carlyle Suites?
Well, I suppose I'm getting way ahead of myself. Hopefully these shows won't be sold out before we know something.
Happy Thanksgiving yanks. I'll be working.

Suck. I'm sending the best possible wishes to the Lovely Mrs. Derelict81. Please give her a hug for me.

Alright, got my tickets for the Tabernacle in Atlanta. I was kind of hoping for the Variety Playhouse, but the Tabernacle should be a good fit. I was there once for a Decemberists concert, and it was a neat place. Huge stage, with plenty of room to roam around. Just watch out for the rats, guys. I've heard they're abnormally large there.

I'll have to look around and see if there are some good bars in the area, in case anyone wants to do a pre-show meet-up.

DC for St Paddy's really?

philipchevron wrote:Don't quote me on this, but in addition to New York, Boston and Washington DC, it looks like we might be venturing out to Montreal, Toronto, Miami and Atlanta next March. Fiddle-de-dee! St Patrick's Day will be in DC this year, with New York relegated to the previous weekend. Tour will run from March 7 to 25.

--=DzM Hijacks the post=--

These dates are now confirmed:

* March 9: Atlanta, GA, Tabernacle
* March 12 & 13: New York, NY, Roseland
* March 16 & 17: Washington, DC, 9:30 Club
* March 21: Boston, MA, House of Blues

Pre-sale: http://tixx1.artistarena.com/pogues/

See the front page for ticket details.

More update: The Canada dates have had to be canceled due to unforeseen circumstances.

Georgetown kinda sucks, and isn't anywhere near the Metro.

Hotels I'd recommend that are closer to the 9:30 Club (walking distance, depending on the weather and what you consider walking distance...): Hotel Helix, the Beacon Hotel, Hotel Rouge, and the Holiday Inn Central at 15th & Rhode Island Ave.

If you're going budget, there's a hostel on 11th St. NW that's either about a 15-20 minute walk to the 9:30 Club or a 5 minute bus ride (the 66 route).

Chicago ran out of Guiness before the opening act finished??? When? Must've been the second show b/c I pounded Guiness all night till they stopped selling it on opening night.

Maybe they just told the "obnoxious" people they were out of it, so they could keep selling it to the really, really cool people...

Have tickets purchased for March 21st. Husband and I were hoping for 2 nights in Boston. Still recovering from surgery needed after March 19th. Is House Of Blues handicap accessible?

See the link in the first post of this thread. Follow the instructions on that web page.

You'll have to enquire about this at the venue, which is new.

I don't recall if it was the first or the second show. It would have been the night the Blackhawks weren't shutting out Anaheim 3-0 (woooo!) as I came in from Colorado for the pleasures of a Pogues show one night and a hockey game the next. But yeah, they ran out at the Riviera before Ike Reilly finished his set. There were no Guinness outages that I was aware of in Chicago 2007 (don't recall the name of the venue) or at the Wiltern in LA in 2006 but they did run out at the Bordello... Bellagio... Beluga... whatever the name of the casino in Atlantic City was where they played in 2006.

Yeah, I may not be an expert on anything but I can chronicle the Guinness supply at shows I attend. I should be at 9:30 Club before the March shows, I'll see if I can pass the word on to Those In Charge.

Thanks Ed! Some nice looking choices.
Vacations are about spending money. Work your ass off for 48 weeks a year, and blow large sums of money the other 4. Thats my outlook.
As far as walking distance goes, it doesn't matter.
After the, "just a short walk to the Fillmore," meet-up we had a couple of years ago in San Francisco, where we walked up a 45 degree street for about 30 minutes, it's taxi's only.
Hell, I'll be 50 next year :)

WTF!!??

How the hell did I miss this until today?

CRAP CRAP CRAP! Tickets are still available on the pre-sale, however I just talked w/ the gf, and we determined that we really don't know where the money would come from next march to get to Boston.

I mean, worse comes to worse, 10 hour drive to Boston. see the show, spend the night, and hit the road for another 10 hours. As much as I'd like to believe it'd be worth it, I gotta be realistic.

So unfortunately, as it is now, I'm really dissapointed to say that I will not be in Boston in March of 2009 to see The Pogues again.

it's been a pretty good 3-year run though.

Sorry to hear that COOP. Maybe you can make a plea for a financial bailout to Glen Murray, the now ex-Boston Bruin
from NS. He was bought out of his contract for a few million.

My Pogues group has had the opposite problem. We have nine people on board (and only eight tickets so far). One
of my friends who attended the Pogues shows back in the day, and to his credit was the one who introduced us to the Pogues in 1986 (he was a Worcester State DJ) is finally going to be able to go to the Boston 2009 show.

So, today on Thanksgiving, I am thankful for that (among many other things). Happy Thanksgiving everyone (and here's
praying that the Indians and Pakistani's don't blow each other up  )
