Hi there, I'm going to a Pogues show in Decemeber, just wondering what you think the chances are of them playing 'Fairytale of New York'. For some odd reason I've had a bet with someone that they won't, she said they will (as it's decemeber). Do they play the song live much? I've checked a couple of setlists and didnt see it mentioned, but those gigs weren't around christmas time!

Who's gonna win the bet then?!

The only question is who will sing Kirsty's part. The last few years it has been Ella Finer with a few guests thrown in know and again.....always a case of watch this space.

Ah, of course, where all the unwanted Pogues artefacts are stowed away, in the loft at Poguemahone Mansion. The big old house in the country where the band all live together, when they're not off in the old van having adventures and solving mysteries.

Snow hmmm??............... two years ago in New York on St Paddys day we had tons of snow and I mean tons of the real stuff?? and No "Fairy Tail of New York" was played, and last year of course there was no snow and lots of sun and we were able to see a mighty fine rendition of "Fairy Tail of New York performed by Ella, go figure EH??..........................anyways if you guys do happen to chance upon a music hall up here in Canada, I'm sure we could get a few Canuckleheads to have some of he real stuff trucked in, and Christmas trees we grow them by the millions up here in the Great White North??

Now just imagine the mosh pit full of snow, snow ball fights galore??.....................hmmm on second thought, maybe that would make it a little more hazardous for you guys to play, bad enough dodging water bottles and such, never mind mad Canuckleheads, playing with their winter treats??

Just think of poor DZM sliding around on the white stuff trying to get pics of you guys performing??.............

And a word of advice, just don't eat yellow snow??.....................

Play what makes you guys happy, i enjoy all of your music and have no special requests as all of your music is special to me??........A Christmas song in March last year worked fine for me, just to see the proud look on Jems face looking over at Ella perform with Shane was a special moment for many people I'm sure.

I also really enjoyed how the set involved songs from all of you guys ??................I am getting excited just thinking about March where ever you guys decide to play.................. I will get ther somehow??

Philip, have you ever considered doing a staged show to Pogues' songs? Like Mamma Mia or Moving Out? Hah

There's so many possibilities. I'm thinking a young man with a bright future who falls from grace, only to be redeemed in the end.

it would start with "I'm a man you don't meet every day" then go to "Boys from the County Hell" and "Dark Streets of London" and ends with "Star of the County Down" and "FTONY"

Or, conversely you could do do the opposite order.

Or it could be a seafaring comedy:
I'm thinking "Greenland Whale Fisheries", "Sea Shanty" , and "Irish Rover".
No doubt there is huge potential in some combination of the songs.

I know I would buy tickets in advance.

Now that I looked up who this Ben Elton character is, I don't believe he would be the right person for the production.
It should be bloody as hell, a la Sweeney Todd.
