Were you in the hotel bar at around 4.15pm, because if so we came right past you.
Was Walshy with you then? I saw someone who looked like her from the back when I arrived.
Yes that was us! didn't see you!!!

I looked for you at breakfast also, i was down at 10.30
I had a sneaky suspicion it was when I heard your accent, didn't see Walshy with you then, wasn't looking in that direction, there was a girl with a Pogues T Shirt on facing us as we walked past.
You wouldn't have seen us at breakfast if you'd have come down at 10.30am, we were up at 8am as our flight was at 12.45pm.

Good to hear that Philip, due to the kind of show The Pogues put on it was always going to be hard to take away a bad memory.
Still wish I'd bought tickets to see you all in Dublin also.
Cant wait for the box release on St Pats
Happy XMAS to all the band members and best of luck next year.

Just arrived home after a memorable weekend in Ireland, attending the gigs in Belfast and Dublin with Mick Molloy and two other Dutch guys, throwing in some sightseeing on our way there and back (and a few pints).
Truly enjoyed ourselves, especially as we got meet with some other Pogues fans in pubs prior to the gigs and as we got to shake hands with James and Terry.
Belfast was THE NIGHT, I'd say, a happier crowd than in Dublin for some reason. On the way back the cab-driver started talking about how is brother died in the troubles, which topped off an already great day, which had started by taking a good look around at Guinness and some serious sight-seeing around Carlingford, where the sun even came out, and a look around at the murals in Belfast.
Pre gig in Dublin at O'Donoghues was great, because it was not too crowded, because there were some medusians around (only some though) and because there was a traditional session going on.
Support in Belfast was a poor choice, which they themselves seemed to realise too.
Blood Or Whiskey next day were spot on, pitty though that they didn't play my personal favourite (Death Watch).
Was interesting to watch Victoria watch Shane and Sinead dance (thanks for drawing my attention to that, Mick!)
It was very inconvenient that, on both nights, there was no wardrobe. It is very warm in the moshpit when you're dressed up to face a cold winter evening!! Is this typically Irish?
Very strange also that in Dublin it was not permitted to drink in the auditorium.
Great though that there was no smoking. Not even by Shane!
ANYHOW, thanx Pogues for a great pre-Christmas weekend,
best wishes, especially to Mr Philip Chevron!!

Well guys who ever heard of a guy who wears two pairs of trousers and two jackets?
Well you found him
Belfast was absolutely mental! I never had so many strangers around my neck than there!

Walshy, I'm sorry I missed you, when I found out you were going I was made up and was really looking forward to seeing you.
Oh well, if there is a next year, I may see you then.
Or come up to Liverpool one weekend, you'd be welcome.

Fr. McGreer wrote:philipchevron wrote:flintstone wrote:I agree with you all... The 'prats' that were throwing any items should have been thrown out.
I dont understand why people pay money to see their favourite band and then decide to throw items at them, beer bottles (plastic), shoes etc..
I can only put that down to the fact that many decided that Christmas has started, so they started to get rat-arsed and thought it would be funny.
I was tempted a few times to lift a few plastic bottles (I wasn't drinking as I was driving) and throw them at the PRICKS to give them a taste of their own medicine but decided I was better not to lower myself to their level.
However good points, when Shane came out the crowd went wild. When he mentioned he was going to sing Dirty Old Town, the crowd got it started before he did, what a song.
It was also funny to see Shane with the words to Thousands are Sailing and another one (cant remember the name).
Also at the earlier part of the show, some fans got on top of friends shoulders, and over to the right hand side of the stage about 40-50 feet from the front some old guy (looked around 60) was up, thats got to be the oldest person ever to be up on shoulders at any gig and that includes the stones.
Main down point................ when the concert finished, but they had to finish at some stage otherwise Dublin would miss out.
Enjoy the concert tonight Dublin, I should have got a ticket for there as well.
Looking forward to seeing The Pogues back in Belfast SOON (next year).

Belfast WAS
the gig of the tour. It was always gonna be that way.
Heather, sorry I missed you. Me and Miss Walshy arrived at the Hatfield at 7.30ish.
On the subject of people throwing things, it was completely out of order that Shane threw his beer tray into the crowd at the end. IT HIT ME IN THE FACE AND NOW IT'S AT HOME IN TIPPERARY!!!

Well i only did the two gigs but i've gotta say, Brum beat it as an all-round gig hands down, i loved the city and the band were in top form but the venue was a fucking disaster and the crowd was not as up for it as in Birmingham, I'm not complaining though i still had a great time and as in Birmingham the one big thing missing was the maestro Mr C
Oh yer and how special was Fairy-tale with Sinead- absolutley nailed it

Well, you did better than I did in London. In the Canterbury Arms there was a girl that I was certain was Miss Walshy...
To my horror, it
wasn't. So embarrassing
