Summer in Siam and Mr Chevron

Post Wed Dec 19, 2007 3:29 pm

Can anybody tell me what "Summer in Siam" was like live on the Christmas tour? It is one of my favourite Pogues songs. Did Jem play sax? Who played piano? How many verses did Shane sing? etc
I would also LOVE to know what Philip thinks of the setlist, especially the inclusion of "Summer in Siam"
And again, our thoughts and prayers are with you Philip

Oh, I couldn't say. I only know if I like a setlist when I'm playing it. However, I did contribute my ha'pence worth to the construction of this one, if that helps.

Thanks for the T and Ps.

It was interesting to hear from a few of the lads post gig on Saturday just how the set list construction works and why, for example, Irish Rover was left out of this tour.

Darryl informed us that he'd heard Take That do a great version of it all sat on stools swaying from side to side with matching suits on; Our lass went watching Take That on Monday but she must have missed that one!

Despite the fact that they're crap, I'm actually intrigued by this. It woudl either be terrible or a rare moment of brilliance.

The set list it seems is almost slightly ironic, more songs from Hell's Ditch are being included, now we all know that Shane has gone on record about his dislike of said album. However, his opinions do have a tendency to flip-flop.

Er... well i think it was a sarcastic reply to me asking why it was dropped from the setlist (Take That were playing the M E N that night...)
