i have standing tickets for a Pogues gig... what should i expect? loads of drunks? i have only ever been to dodgy pop acts at large arenas so am a bit worried about being knocked around in the crowd! the person i am going with has a bad back.
any input's appreciated.

Loads of drunks, but (mostly) happy, friendly ones. It's really a good time.

Be prepared to get wet. That's all I'll say.

Almost everyone I've met at a Pogues gig is sound. There was only that one problem with the girl behind me who had personal space issues who got into it with some drunk ass forcing me to step in and almost get kicked out by a bouncer. That was less than fun

Stay away from the front and you will be fine.

okay, thanks for the replies and the warning!!
i have standing tickets but really would prefer the seated ones as i'm going to be taking my mum.
do you think it's likely that someone in the queue would be willing to give me their seated tickets for standing ones if i just ask around??

the best way to describe the crowd at a pogues gig is thus.it reminds me of the national lampoons film ,where they were touring europe ,they got to germany and daddy lampoon got up on the stage to dance with these germans dressed in their leather pants .they started to gently slap each others face, then daddy lampoon lost his control and started to punch the hell outta them ,[not understanding the dance lol].its rough but friendly [sometimes]

I´d say most of us are Pogues Fans
Have a few pints and enjoy your self, you´ll be well treated and you´ll have a great time.
Good luck.

normjaz, at Brixton there's a sort of ramped area at the side of the stalls, which is (supposedly) set aside for people with disabilities. If you call Brixton box office in advance and explain your mum's situation, they'd probably let your mum and you have a seat in there. It's not a bad view at all.

Yeah, if your at the front stay on either the far left or far right, unless you want to be bounced around like at a Metallica gig stay away from the middle.

We've got standing tickets for Wednesday at Brixton, we were seated last year but wanted to get near the front to get a better view of the band. I'm not very tall so we won't get a good view if we are too far back so hope that will be ok. Our daughter and her boyfriend are coming with us and we can't wait 'till next Wednesday - only 7 more days to go!

No, you can't sit at a Pogues gig!
