Starving Golaith and although I really tried to give them a chance, they disappointed.

The supports for all the Pogues/MacGowan gigs Ive been to were:

MacGowan & Popes, Wolves Wulfrun Hall 04: Neck (seemed really really good on the night and all the crowd was loving them so I made all my mates go to see them at Glastonbury last year but they werent so impressive)

Pogues Bham Academy 04: The Basement (didn't really watch them as I was having some booze)

MacGowan & Popes Stourbridge Rock Cafe 05: Local Band (don't recall the name of this band but I do remember that the gig was full of completely drunk old men who were unlike those at usual pogues/macgowan gigs and one of them threw a pint in the singers face and then a bouncer came on the mike and said anyone else who throws their drink will be kicked out and then loads of old men started throwing their drinks all over the place and got kicked out during the support.)

Pogues Bham NIA 05: Dropkick Murphies (i dont really like these at all and find it difficult to listen to some of their interpretations of traditional songs. however, they came onstage to the foggy dew by the chieftains which gave a really good atmosphere and everyone got to sing some classics such as wild rover and the fields of athenry. i also spoke to people who had come to the gig with the main intention of seeings the DKMs so quite an interesting support there and certainly one of the best crowd reactions.)

Pogues Bham NIA 06: The Saw Doctors (absolutely shite)

Pogues Manchester GMEX 07: Billy Bragg (not only one of the greatest pogues gigs but also one of the greatest bragg gigs. due to the fact he only had about 35 mins to play, he limited his "speeches" which usually take up half his gigs and played a greatest hits set including a rousing rendition of a new england for the finale, with the audience singing the chorus)

Pogues Birmingham 07: The Holloways (these were quite good but as I'd been in Manchester the night before I wasnt really getting into them that much. Better than the saw drs though.)

Indeed, not only were they a bad match but they were just plain not very good.
