March in 2008

Great news. I'll have to talk to my multitudinous Boston cousins and see who wants to join me.

Fortunately, when they built the Orpheum Vaudeville circuit, they made their theatres fit to last, real estate developers notwithstanding.

Wonderful news. Maybe the new music hall being built in place of Avalon
will be open?

If not, I think I will make sure my father and uncle come to the Orpheum.
Even though I "hated" Irish music growing up, they introduced me to it
and my love of the Pogues grew from that. My uncle was in a Irish
band here in Boston during the '70s called "Fenian Folk" that recorded
an album featuring "Dirty Old Town".

So being a theatre person Mr. Chevron, you will be there in March??
Thanks for the great news and we all will be praying that you
will be with the rest of the band.

My great great Grandmother (Grace) played the Orpheum circuit in her day (looooong ago) as a singer of popular Arias. I'm sure she'd be dismayed if I let the side down. I am certainly hoping to be there.

Great news!

I'm overjoyed and will follow the band. Any chance of a show in Pittsburgh? Wishful thinking, I guess.

They tend to play shitholes once every few years. Two or three years ago, it was AC. I wouldn't hold your breath for a stop in Pittsburgh.

I can't wait! The Orpheum in Boston is not my favorite venue though. Avalon was better. Since drinks arent allowed in the theatre everyone crowds the lobby so you cant move. Also, GA shows with no seats seem to be more livelier (sp?) with dancing & such.

I sincerely hope that Phillip's health finds him able to be there, as "Thousands" is definately a highlight of the show.

See you in a few months.

Condolences on your niece, Corey.

Funny, isn't it, how hearing about a Pogues tour lifts the spirits? So Cool!!

And Philip, take care of yourself, first of all. WHEN you come back, whenever that is, we'll all celebrate. Heal well.

Having never been to the Orpheum, I don't know, but does this mean it doesn't have GA? What about the venue in NYC?

Yeah the Orpheum is not GA. Assigned seats, and the ushers are pretty strict. No moving closer! Not sure about NYC venue, when I seen them at the Nokia theatre in Times Sq. it was GA, (great venue i thought) but I guess its at Roseland this year...never been.

Of course GA is livelier.

May sound bizarre, but for the aged and infirm :) GA is not always great. No moving closer sucks though.

Was there last St. P Day for Pogues show. GA floor. A different color arm band for kind of a GA mezzanine. Fairly large floor though. I thought it was a good size for the show. Looked to me like people who got there early got good position. I recommend being there, in line, when the doors open.
What kind of fuckery is this?

Yeah, worked well for us in San Fran. We were in line and got to stand right at the front. Good when one is short and half-blind. :D
