Hide your loyal Colts, guys, and listen.
Looks like it's time to say it openly:

There wont be such thing as the third London date this year.

The Management confirms it and promises if there are changes to be had fans on pogues.com will be the first to know.

PS Hope you'll have a great night on 20th Dec anyway.

Since Arsenal is not playing, fotball is out of the question :D

That's a shame, MacRua! Let's shoot the messenger anyway. I thought that was coming. :(

Johan, ticketmaster lists these shows:

If you find none of them interesting, you can go and see the Star Wars exhibition or Tutankhamun, otherwise it's drinks with Miss Walshy!

Nothing that i wan´t to see, not even interested in Star Wars.

So i guess it´s time to get "hammered" in London somewhere.

We´ll work something out.

Firehazard, let´s have some pints before next years Pogues shows, i´ll hope to get to UK before that :D

Cheers all

no chevron, no third show?

Post Tue Nov 13, 2007 7:01 pm

quite significant that, for the first time since the reunion, the pogues have not managed to sell enough tickets to warrant a third show at brixton.
in the past, they have had no problem adding a third date. could this be because quite a few people feel seven pogues are not the same as eight pogues? without philip chevron, this christmas tour does not feel the real thing. the magic of the pogues, the band we all love, is about those eight brilliant guys together on stage.

Well I agree with you in hindisght. I saw the Pogues back in 2006 in Atlantic City, it was always a pleasure to see those eight guys just having a great time. Now, it does seem that this new Christmas tour will be missing Mr. Chevron (gotta love Thousands Are Sailing,) but with Philip still recovering from throat cancer it's still up in the air when he will make his triumphant return. Incidentally, I read the guitarist that is filling in for him, is doing just fine.

I saw the pogues a couple of times. The first time without shane, still I thought they where fantastic. Last time Mr C wasn't with them. This absolutely, for me, was a great loss. I think however, EVEN without Mr C, it is the greatest band in the world. To me being at the gig last time was a bit like 'dealing with this terrible situation'. He was with us/me all the time in a way. Musicaly James Walbourne is doing all real great job.

Thank you all for your patience and for your support of Mr Walbourne. Being an understudy can be a thankless task and it looks to me that Pogues fans have been generous to him, which is the least you would expect from Pogues fans, I guess.

I know the band is very happy that if they can't have me, they can at least have James, who I understand is doing a great job. Being with The Pogues, for however long, is an experience he will treasure all his life. I envy him!

philip chevron's reply just again shows what a wonderful man he is.
forget all the drama before 2001: my point remains that since the reunion, the pogues without philip, or any other member, are just not the same band. and that's why, i'm convinced, ticket sales are not as strong as before.
philip: you are in my prayers every night.

Too late for the third date, but it seems both Brixton shows are now sold out, at least through the Academy site.

And while I'm looking forward to hearing James Walbourne play, some of the magic will definitely be missng, and it will be sad to think of Mr C. still recovering.

I'm sure there are many sound reasons why this is not possible, but wouldn't it be great, 2 Brixtons and then the Electric Ballroom!
