i hate to say it but the show was only ok. The problem might have been the crowd which was not very fun. I should say that a lot of people were cheering and dancing, but there were too many people sitting on their thumbs. The palms is way too big of a venue for the pogues, it was 2/3 empty. i just hope they made enough money to come back next year.

The Pogues,i'm sure "made their money", this is paid by a promoter, they(the promoter) would be the ones to take the hit if a concert doesnt sell out or do too well

yeah i know. but if they didnt make any money for the promters, they may not be able to ask for a good price next time. Luckily pogues fans are drinkers so im sure the consession sales were nice. Just bad choice of venue i thought. Great venue, just too big

had a great time at friday nights show at the palms casino, the band sounded great, shane was in good shape and sounded good and it was not crowded on the floor and was able to get close to the band.
ran into spider on saturday morning when he was checking out of the casino,
he was kind enough to let my girlfriend take a picture of me and him
even though he was leaving...he even put his put his arm on my shoulder like we were old pal's...
thanks spider.

My husband bought us tickets for the show in Las Vegas for my birthday. We traveled, from our home in Colorado, to see you all and it was well worth it. After being stationed all over yet nowhere at all during my years in the service and then moving to the interior of the U.S., I have not had the opportunity to see The Pogues. It was really a huge thing for me. However, I was sorry to not see Philip perform and hope that he recovers as quickly as possible. Again, many thanks, to the band, for making the trip well worth the cost as it was a big deal for us. We truly felt appreciated, as fans, and for that we are grateful in return.

Las Vegas
I thought the show was great. Crowd was not the best but I thought the band was very good, I actually saw people that never stood up. It was also nice to be able to take pics (not sure if any turned out yet).

I thought it was much better than at the HOB last year.

Anyone have the setlist?

Yep, funny old place, the Pearl at the Palms. Funny old, new, place is Vegas altogether and a place that tends to rub most of us up the wrong way. We don't know what happened to irony as a concept and what used to be playful seems now to be a matter of emptying the pockets of the poor twats with their walkers into their machines (ranks of which, in the Palms at least, were called 'Mr. Cashman'). The Pearl did seem somewhat undersold and the place generally sterile (a rubber stage and digital equipment), but I could see how much room people had to move about and it seemed easier to relate, somehow, to the audience - plus I had an arc of stage apron to showboat in which is always fun and a pity that Philip couldn't share it with me. It was a weird place to finish the tour off. We went up to the Playboy club afterwards for a while and I had my ears pounded by the mash-ups and mixes in there. Again, the goofy fun of the sixties Bunny Girls given over to cookie-cutter product-shippers, nice as our waitress was. A couple of us won some money. I went off for a bath after a while and had a look over the twinkling lights through my bedroom window in my bathrobe and kind of wished I was somewhere else.

This is the most succinct summary I've ever seen of every single trip I've had to Las Vegas.

Are you a fluffy-terry style, or a silky kimono-like kind of bathrobe guy, DzM? Inquiring minds want to know.

I kind of enjoy the bathrobe/cityscape-gazing thing (fluffy-terry) when I go to Las Vegas, actually.

Actually ... in Vegas it seems mostly apropos to leave the bathrobe on the bed and stand at the window "all natural." If the city doesn't seem to notice, then it's time to get creative.

Where were all the Pogues fans in Vegas? Was the low turnout going to effect future west coast tour plans? Anyone? Were the other west coast venues full?
