Thank you, Niall, what about my other half?

Suppose he'll have to stand, ah well, will do him no harm.

Just been spending the afternoon planning my journey round Belfast, The Hatfield looks a bit far from where were staying and my other half is having a good moan (You could have picked somewhere nearer to the venue/the hotel, stupid people, etc).

I told him to relax, everything would be fine.

Hi mate. I'm not local at all, but I was there as a tourist a few weeks ago, lucky enough to see Black 47 play there.
I'll be back there soon to see the Pogues, we might meet, I'm in Mick Molloy's gang.
I walked those area's, I mean Falls Road and Shankill, they're close to one another, part of the fence between them is still erect. It was both interesting and somehow strange, like remains of Iron Curtain, WWII stuff and places like that.
Anyhow, I was walking around in the late afternoon and wasn't bothered at all.
Not knowing how fit or time-pressed you are (nor what the wheather will be), you can do it all on foot if you have let's say three hours at your hand. It's a little to the West just out of the centre. Or take a taxi to the top of Falls Road and walk back, that might save time.
Frankly, Belfast isn't that much of a sight anyhow, so if you take some interest in history, this is probably your best bet.
I saw people doing the trip by taxi, without even daring to open the window, let alone the door, which I thought was uncalled for. Then again, a few days prior I walked Bogside in Derry, feeling safe, only to find out later that there had been a knifepoint rape the previous night, and that a policeman was shot the day after I was there ..
Anyhow, it's probably not the wisest of things to walk the Shankill area all dressed up with Pogues attributes.

hoping this is helpful in some respect
cu mate

Thnaks for the advice mate, i reckon i'll walk it, you see much more on foot and you can stop and start when you like, as for rapes and shootings these things happen here in my home city all too regular, a girl was raped last week just around the corner from my home and a lad beaten to within inches of his life at my local pub, so its not something you can really worry about its just the way it is and yer no celtic shirts is a definite - i'll hopefully see you there maybe at the hatfield

Finally ordered a ticket for the gig, they've moved it to the main hall and have released more tickets.

Hatfield is a great spot for a pre gig pint btw.
