Niall wrote:like i already said, theres plenty of places where its perfectly acceptable to wear a Celtic shirt. City centre pubs its not alright and rightly so as in belfast its a recipe for disaster, though to label wearing a Celtic shirt as "that shit" is a bit derogatory as most people who wear them are not out to cause bother. Anyway, Lisburn Road is full of good bars. May i also suggest the Bot which isnt too far from the venue

I have to say I'm up here at queens and I think the Bot is shit. Firstly its very anglo and the crowd is basically 80% assholes and some of the bartenders overcharge

i had four years of drinking in the Bot, it must have changed since my day, though the last time i was there, a few months ago, it was still fine

Can anybody recommend a reasonably priced hotel nearby? It's been a while since I've been in Belfast so I'll leave the meeting place to you guys. Look forward to seeing you all soon.

This is where I'm staying, it doesn't look too far away from the venue to us and it was £80 when I booked including breakfast.

I don't think Philip was referring to the Hoops jersey, i think he was referring to The Trouble when he said "that shit". But I agree with your post.

When will people realise that the vast majority of football troublemakers don't go around wearing their teams shirts anyway. You wouldn't catch the 'Soccer Crew in hoops, nor the Bidgeton Loyal in butcher's aprons. I wore my Celtic shirt to the Brixton gig last year, but only because I'd been out for the Old Firm that day.

Me too Niall, and a mate of mine, she's also a die hard. We're then both heading south to Dublin for Sunday. It's our first time in Belfast so you'll have to look after us!

well, that is to say, four Dutch guys, but not that Catholic, actually, at least not that I know of

no football shirts, not even my Celtic one
incidently, my best memory of them is loosing the 1970 final against my personal favourite team ...

as regards sleeping, we're in Linen House Hostel, walking (or should I say crawling) distance, 50 pounds for a room for the four of us ...

and then quickly back to Dublin for the next gig
