Giving Manchester a miss this year so Nottingham and Birmingham it is for me,

As it's a Friday night, the City Centre will be heaving and you can't really go wrong for a lively drink due to the huge number of pubs we have here. Pub's I'd recommend that are nearest to the (soulless) venue:
The Castle - Lower Parliment Street (Good pre-gig atmosphere)
The Old Angel - Hockley (proper punk pub)
Bunker's Hill - Lower Parliment St (right next to venue - good atmosphere and beer to boot)
The Social - Talbot Street (Super cool pub/music venue)
Formans - Forman Street (another proper punk pub opposite the Cornerhouse complex. Bit further away, about a 20 min walk but worth it)
I'm sure you'll all enjoy your trip to Nottingham. It really is a great place, rather than the OK Coral, like the papers would have you believe.
Shame bloody Liverpool won't be coming next month, hey Phil? Sigh.....
