Disappointed: Why do the Pogues cost so much

Post Wed Aug 08, 2007 6:53 pm

Don't know if this site is at all affiliated with 'The Pogues' or merely a fan site.

The fact that my favorite band of all time is charging $95 to get in the door.....is awful.

I've always been a fan, always wanted to have the opportunity to go to a show, always wanted to meet Shane,....I can't go. The cost it far out my league.
I wish this tour was dedicated to their actual die-hard fans. Who can afford this but the stupid upper crust wanna be kids who can afford to get shit-faced on fancy drinks and act like fucking goons?

This has always been a dream, wish I could go.

Thanks for the writing the best songs of all time.

xoxo

Don´t think the band decides the ticket price. It´s been cheaper in the UK and I think different from venue to venue. I pay about $120 for the show in Sweden but that´s a festival so always more expensive.

Show in Seattle

I've never paid that much to see anyone.
No one charges that much.
I know it's not the 'band' that charges these admission prices but I'm sure they have some control over the overall fee.

To see most major bands today tickets are 50-90$

The Pogues are charging $50 for Seattle.

Well, you are only paying $11.87 to see Shane (plus $11.87 each for the remaining Pogues).

It will be money well spent.. :P

Don't use a ticket broker. Go to the Fenix and find out how to get tickets from official sources, like TicketsWest:

$50 doesn't seem all that bad.

Come on, Nettieboop. I don't see any of the West Coast shows costing 90 dollars. $50 average at most venues, not bad at all. Considering these aren't large theaters, you'll be pretty close. :)

I would think any die hard fan would gladly pay $95 to see their favorite band. After all it is the f@#cking Pogues....

Even if it was $90 (which it isn't..I got tix for $56 a piece) why don't The Pogues deserve it? It is 8 of some of the most talented musicians out there and a metric-shit ton of equipment flown all the way across the Atlantic for your amusement. The costs on all that stuff is incredible.

People that bring that kind of joy to the world deserve absolutely everything they get.

I paid over $400 in transportation costs, about the same for my hotel, $55 for my ticket, had a wasted second $50 ticket, and sprung for a nice pork-pie hat. Money is to be spent, and I can't think of many better things to spend it on than going to a Pogues show. :) 8) 8)
What kind of fuckery is this?

It most certainly IS the "band" that charges these admission prices. We do so because at this advancing stage in our chronological life-spans, we feel entitled to bequeath the toilets and flophouses to the kiddieboys. That doesn't always mean we AVOID the flophouses and toilets, any more than our health insurance guarantees us a clean bill of health, but we like to make the point all the same.
