well as it looks like you are from MN also, I think I will start at nine fine and drink my dinner, just thought there would be another pub that I didn't know about.

Vegas party

Post Tue Oct 23, 2007 12:28 am

I admit is might be a bit posh but how about some pre show warmup in the Palms "The Lounge"? Throw a fiver in a video poker machine and drink for free the next two hours. I coughed up a few extra bucks for a room there so it is certainly and selfishly convenient but a nice place to get the night going and the shows in the "The Pearl" at the Palm as well.

I do think an after party at the "Double Down" is a great idea as you can go all night, great jukebox and live bands till 1:00 AM.

the double down is a good place. been there many a time with no troubles. Nine Fine Irishmen is OK for a morning Bloodymary or maybe a lunch but it gets butts-to-nuts crowded pretty early with a bunch of young wanks, so I'll pass on that.

Last year the HoB didnt have whiskey (at least not at the stnad closest to me) am i going to have that same problem with the Pearl? Will i have to keester the Bushmills? will I want to drink it after ive done that?
so many questions and only 8 days left!!!!

Have to agree Chuggly, with regards to Nine Fine. A real tourist trap.
Unfortunately, as first timers in Vegas last year, we attempted to try this "pub" the evening before the band's performance at HOB.
In summary, don't waste your time. At about 11 p.m., the missus was granted free admission, but they wanted to charge me five bucks to walk into this wall-to-wall bottleneck. We said bye-bye.
Grabbed a cab to Double Down.
No regrets.

Great place to celebrate Shane and Victoria's upcoming "quickie" Vegas wedding

Got a call late last night from my old man. He said he was in Vegas looking at the Palms sign advertising the Pogues concert. "Should I go?" he asked?" "Hell, yes!" I replied. Wish I could go with him -- that would be a cool father-son experience.

Can't be a past-tense yet. Gig hasn't started. Give it around three hours for doors to open.
